I'm sure I have asked this before, but stuffed if I can find it.

Is the rear tank from a 71,73,74 the same as the rear tank in troop carriers and utes? From the ones I have briefly eyeballed they look the same. Reason is I have a long range tank to sell and want to get all the market interested!

They are similar in shape, and it looks like the 70/71/73 tanks are pretty close, but I know my HZJ75 troopy rear tank has some slightly different plumbing/vents/lines on it for the fuel/vapor separator than my BJ70 does.

Maybe cuz of the dual tanks:meh:

Bit more on this anyone swapped a troopy tank into a MWB ? My MWB tank is now about 70L, pretty sure it started out at 90L. A mate has a 1990 HZJ75 troopy which I can grab the rear tank from if it can be made to fit well. From Toyo DIY the P/N are different, but I am not sure what due to.

Troopy tanks are different then short and mid-wheelbase 70 series.

I have an Australian long range tank in my BJ70 and a troopy tank is not a direct fit according to the company that sold it to me. Now, I'm not sure how much work it would take to make it fit.

I did the reverse, i dropped a petrol SWB 70 rear tank, bash plate etc. into the rear of my HZJ78 without any dramas apart from the fact mine was an underside spare wheel model, but once I modified the chassis the filler/sender/fuel lines all appeared to be in the right place, it appeared exactly the same as the auxiliary tank in my mates HZJ75 when we sized them up.

just a note that might interest some ... those soft metal bands can be bent to which ever way you like without any damage, and to make dropping/installing the tank easier, when I modified my chassis and welded up the new supports I reversed the factory band position so the ends with the single bolts to hold it up are at the back (hinges near axle)... much easier pulling it out the free back end than back against the axle as it comes from the factory.

What did you have to do to the chassis, please ?

They share the same part number for the SWB, MWB and the sub tank for the troopy.

Theres a before shot on the first page of my build thread... here is the after. Basically remove existing chassis crossmember, weld factory mounts to chassis pipe above axle, fit tank and determine best position for new chassis crossmember. All the bits i welded on were unbolted from the 70 i removed the tank from
