Just ordered my new snorkel sat. and was wondering if it will have wind noise on the interstate? Also, should I get the pre-filter thingy??

my fj62 got a safari snorkel added to her for christmas, not any noticable noise. didn't have prefilter, but didn't notice too much of a difference at my stock filter housing and k and n seemed to be just as dirty as it usually get for a certain time. but i did think it may have been a little affected buy the ability to have larger pieces of sh*t get into the air filter housing, so the pre filter is probably a good idea, especially if you are located in a place that has lots of bad whether or lots of trees covering the roads, or a very buggy place. all these can easily get into your snorkel and go all the way to the filter, which could restirct alot of air flow.

Had one on my 80 for about two months. There's a little teeny gap between the snorkel and the a-pillar. I can occaisionally get a whistle from wind, but that's it. All in all, the fit is really good. I was surprised tho about the antenna. I was under the impression that the newer style had the dent for the US antenna, but it didn't.

I wouldn't worry about the dust can top unless you live in a VERY dusty area. Like, Sahara dusty.

No added wind noise. As for the thingie, ask the wife. My wife and many others dig my thingie but I don't have a wind thingie. Seriously, for most of us stateside, I think the thingie adds minimal benefit (but then again, so does the whole snorkel) whereas if you were in OZ it may be preferrable to have a thingie. I think Shed Guy is still searching to see if he has a thingie.

No wind noise on mine. I have a thingy and wouldn't worry about it for day to day use. I throw it on when I'm going on a trip and know I'll be doing several hundred miles of dirt roads...

Be prepared to answer thousands of stupid questions. Well, maybe only two or three, but you will answer them thousands of times.

What is that thing? #1 with a bullet. You will get it shouted at you at lights, driving down the road, at gas stations, freakin' everywhere.

Do you really put your car in water that deep?
Why does your exhaust come out up there?

No whistles, no thingy needed, no added fuel mileage, just more questions and a propensity to put your truck where it really shouldn't go.
