So I recently bent up my stock "rock protector" and ding up the underside of my gx470 hitting a local trail to me. So it's time to upgrade.

I've been eyeing the ARB skid plate for it's balance of full coverage, cost, and moderate protection.

But I'm seeing some inconsistencies with listed compatibility. On a handful of vender's website, they list the ARB skid plate with the part number 5421110 as compatible with the gx470 w/KDSS. But if I cross reference to ARB's website and a few other venders. They only list the 5th gen 4runners for that part number.

So I wanted to ask. Will the 5421110 ARB skid plate work without modification for my gx470? Or is there a better option that I should consider?

Thanks

Following. I was going to go with ARB as well for my 06 with KDSS. Haven't pulled the trigger, but I do not think 5421110 will fit. The front skid plate requires more room for the KDSS bar to move. ARB's own website says 5421110 will not work with KDSS.

*EDIT*
Forgive me, I got my 1s mixed up. You can basically completely ignore my message lol Might as well just be following

I found a guy on the gxor Facebook group that bought the 5421110 ARB kit and he confirmed it doesn't fit. It looks like it'll work if you are willing to modify and maybe make an extension bracket for it.

I emailed a few different vendors about the listed compatibility differences and one that has replied to me said that ARB doesn't support Lexus.

Which didn't answer my question. But after doing some more digging. It looks like the ARB kit won't fit without modification. So I'm probably going a different route.

Just FYI but I've mangled my ARB skids over the years. They are OK for "stock plus" wheeling, but they'll bend significantly if you end up dragging the rig over a rock. Granted they have done their job of protecting the underside of the rig from damage, but I'd go for a proper 3/16" steel set of skids if the rig will have more substantial wheeling.

Good to know! My rig doesn't see heavy use, just finally mangled up some of the stock armor last fall.

This may shift my eye to RCI
