Usually only takes 6-8 inches. You have to be careful not to crawl up on the back of the little ones!;pLOL You do that? Aren't you pushing against the parking pawl?

Ok so weight was my concern also when I bought it for the TJ. On my 80 with the solid axle and 8k Warn not to concerned, the factory is no light weight
Surprised the Ironman Deluxe Commercial doesn't come up in more of these conversations - seems like it's comparable to the ARB, but with a better lighting kit and polyurethane bumper points for those of us who have to parallel park daily
Anyone who can share their experience with them?

ARB's 'recovery tabs' are meant for a straight pull or using the hi-lift adapter that mates specifically to the bumper.
They recommend leaving the stock tow loops underneath.
As kybishop said, you can strengthen the ARB points. Someone sold tabs that doubled the thickness and they work great.
I like the ARB a lot and especially on the 80, I think it looks great and is very functional.
Slee, being the 4x4 guru, designed his for a different purpose and I thought that was very smart.
Love that one too.
IMHO if I could do anyone right now it would be a AOE, old style TJM full bumper, short bus, ARB....... and I do have an ARB and love it but I modified it![]()
Do you remember where you saw the recovery point beef ups? Or just go to a smart welder and let him go at it?
