Minutes from the April meeting 4.18.06
"Fj" called the meeting to order and we began introductions. in attendance were "Fj", Frank, Ige, Damon, John, Julie and Paul, Jason Jones, Ben Lowery, Eric Corbett, and Eric and April Penfold.
Damon stated that the club brought in $445 in dues last meeting to give us a balance of 508.35.
Ben "pink panties" Lowery, Jason Jones and Eric and April Penfold are our newest members. the cutoff for open registration is now complete. Anyone looking to join will now have to attend two meetings and two runs and be voted in. Also, Dan Venerick will be joining as an associate member.
Frank spoke about the Crystal Mountain cleanup run. This is scheduled the weekend of June 3rd and 4th and will be our June event. We will be resurrecting a fence to keep people from driving over the trees next to the gate to gain access. We will also being doing general trail cleanup and may attempt to get some of the larger pieces (like a Volkeswagon) out.
To prepare for the fence, we are looking for anyone willing to donate any 1 1/2" or larger pipe. we're looking for about 200' of the smaller pipe, plus we'll need the uprights for a 100' stretch. each upright needs to be approximately 8'. We'll also need quickcrete, and everyone should plan on bringing shovels, picks, gloves, safety glasses and other common trail maintenance items. Frank has a welder, but we'll also need a torch setup and spare batteries for the welder. Damon may have access to a bobcat for that weekend. He's going to check and see if it's available and John has donated his coyote cruisers shop for a sunday so we can prebuild the fence panels.
Frank also brought up the possibility of adopting a second trail. Another club is faltering and their adopt a trail may be up for grabs. Sand Creek and Green River were discussed.
We also talked about getting the various clubs more interactive...inviting them on our runs. The extra manpower would be great on adopt-a-trail runs, but would also be nice just to get to know our fellow wheelers.
The May run is still technically open, but Carnage is up for consideration. A night run was also discussed. Anyone with suggestions or requests should post up and let us know.
