coming over in April for Crossroads, what to do,must see,any mudders around the area, looking for the best bourbon in town also, cheers

Where will you be staying?

By Crossroads, I assume you mean this:

http://crossroadsguitarfestival.com/

The FJNortheasters have their annual Easter run around this time. Easter is early in 2013, so it may be too early for you.

When are you arriving and how long will you be staying?

i plan to be coming a few days before and how long i stay depends on how much fun i have organised,my son and his partner will be over there, they are doing a month cruising around,i am looking to do whatever, like to check out the bush and go do stuff with the locals, love a fine bourbon and a good laugh,so options are not limited,no plans to travel elsewhere just explore the area around NY gotta be some good stuff to do,thanks for the replies too Baz

Sounds good! I work in Manhattan and live in a really great part of Brooklyn with lots of great bars and restaurants. I work with an Aussie that lives near me, too. There are too many places to drink nice bourbon, too many things to see, and too many good places to eat. You will not be bored

sounds awesome, whats the weather like that time of year?

You never know. 2 years ago it was 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Could be 70 and rainy

We have a history of April snow storms, so don't be surprised if the weather is closer to 32 F or 0 C in early April.

Yep. It could be 80 or it could snow. April is crazy here

thats crazy,Melbourne may get similar (no snow) but hot n cold but where we are in north queensland we dont go below about 5C even in winter, but i dont care what it does,be all good, what are accomodation prices like?just need basic number, not worried about a room with a spa if you know what i mean,my son and girl are staying in a place in times square i think, but yeah looking forward to being there

A hotel room in Times Square is going to cost you. It's tourist central. Don't be too concerned about location. Manhattan is not a big place and the subway will take you anywhere you want to go for a couple of bucks.
Keep to public transportation and your feet, and you'll have an easier/faster time getting around. Taxis are not where it's at anymore.

Spend some time on the travel web sites to get a better idea of hotel prices and the location. Remember, Manhattan is not a huge area. You can easily walk from east to west (river to river) in midtown in about 25 minutes. I used to do it all the time.

When I travel I usually rent an apartment. Cheaper and more comfortable, in my opinion. My friend's wife works for a company that rents out apts. I'll get some info if you want
