I searched but found that the posts were mostly older and confusing, so I am just going to ask the stupid question. Is there a full featured OBD reader dongle / iPhone app for the iPhone 5S that works without too much effort but will read all of the toyota codes for my 2000 LC?

For those with android, Torque. Don't know of a good iOS app but EngineLink may be one to check out.

PalmerPerformance DashCommand

Works well on iPhones.... Read and clear DTCs, and does datalogging

Thanks, I am looking into these now. Will they generally cover all of the dash lights (VSC Off and ABS etc) or just Check Engine Light ?

It's reading the the OBD-II protocol..... So if the LC is logging it and reporting it via OBD, the software will be able to report it.

I've used mine on German cars mostly, never plugged it in to the LC to see how much data is really there to read.

Thanks for asking this question, as I'm looking into the same thing.

On a technical note, I believe that the only dongles that will work with an iPhone are those that use wifi and not Bluetooh.

My U-Scan works fine over BT on my iPhone and iPad as well. I don't use it all that often though so I can't give much feedback other than it works great giving me codes and clearing them on everything I've tried it on. (Yota, Ford and Chevy stuff)

Here's a vid on this one I found ( I haven't done any logging with it):

Got an OBDLink MX WiFi for Christmas and the free iPhone app for my 5s - it works great.

Still playing around with it though so I may try Dash Command later.
