Hey crew,

Just checking in on the club and seeing if there are any organized/scheduled rides for the rest of this year? We are all busy, but I'd like to try to get out this fall if there's something going on, especially since I have the 40 now! A Shakedown run would be fun, not that Mello Yello (the 40's nickname) needs much shaking down, being 41 and all!

cheers,

Joel

Hi Joel,

I'm a bit surprised there's no activity on this thread. As an FYI, I just ran across some info on jfcruiserforums.com about an organized weekend event coming up at Windrock. The link to the event site is: www.appalachiantoyotaroundup.org and is scheduled for Labor Day weekend. Its evidently the first time this event has been organized, but sounds a lot like a GSMTR event.

I think I'll register and plan to ride some trails. Hope you decide to come and bring your FJ40 so I'll have another 40 to hook up with. BTW I thoroughly enjoyed hooking up with you and others during this year's GSMTR rides.

If you want to spend a day riding sometime between now and Labor Day and want another 40 to ride with, I'm game. We need to get Hunter out on some trails as well since he's made some updates on his 40!

Steve

Cool! Are you the guy that cruised with our group of 80s one of the last days at GSMTR, trail 16? Sounds good, I want to get out in the woods with my 40 soon, so maybe I'll holler at you and we can post up and try to see if someone wants to do a day trip or overnight somewhere?

Cheers, Joel

A few of us just started talking about a day ride during the Appalachia Toyota Roundup. Saturday, Sept 5.

Yes, the 40 with the custom primer finish! Please keep me in mind as you're planning a ride. Jason's 4runner is running again so he's also game for hitting trails.

I'm now registered for the Appalachian Toyota Roundup event. If you do a group ride and don't mind another truck tagging along, please keep me in mind. Thx.
Steve

If I come to that event id love to get in the group on that ride!

Anybody else going to make the event? If even for a day run that Sat., Sept 5.

I'm not ready to hit anything too difficult with the 40 just yet. Need to take care of some structural issues first. But I was hoping to drive the 40 there and hit a couple of easy trails. And ride with someone for the more difficult stuff.

Shawn is most likely having shoulder surgery that week, so he's out.

Vic will have to wait and make a last minute decision.

Haven't heard from Rance and Corey yet.

What say you Nik?

IronCladLou?

Jordan and Justin?

Mean Joe Brown?

Who am I forgetting?

Joel... Lol
I'm a member! I'm itching to get the 40 out in the woods

LOL I didn't forget you Joel... I had you pegged as a definite along with Steve.

:clap::cheers:

We were headed out of town, but not anymore. I will plan on hitting the trails for the day Andy...aka I will caravan with you. Really need to get my battery tray and motor mounts sorted by then, but still plan to go. It can be the official trail test after doing a hill climb mod on my Weber (just for you Shawn!).

Glad you brought that up, Nik. I have a F.5 engine and stock carb, runs great until I'm at an incline, then it sputters. What kind of mod can u do on a stock carb?

Thx, joel

Search for "How to make a weber climb a hill". Found it on Marlin Crawler tech page. For my 32/36 Weber you basically 1) drop float 1-2mm below stock spec 2) install a fuel regulator to reduce fuel pressure to ~2psi 3) relocate the fuel bowl vent. jury is still out on how it will perform. I am assuming it "could" be a similar mod for stock carb... We can use mine as the test dummy first.

Hey! I could be up for this! No body damage/not breaking anything would be my goal since it's got to get me work everyday.

And by easy trails, I mean really, really easy trails. Keeping articulation to a minimum. My tub is hanging by a thread.

Mike, hope you can make it. We'll take it easy and ride around. I know your truck is a DD, and a nice one at that. We wouldn't get you into trouble.

Dammit, I just saw that this is Labor Day weekend… Is this the same ride at Windrock that is a bunch of other Toyotas?

Joel...Yes, the same weekend. I will not be able to make a weekend out of it, but wanted to go up for the day, Sat. Sept. 5. Would like to meet and talk with the guys in the club that are hosting. I will probably not even be able to stay for the dinner Sat. night. I am not registered.

I hate to miss a trail ride but I am definitely out. Nik, let me know how your carb modifications work out. Hopefully you will be screaming up the hills now!
