Anyone used San Diego Trux before? (1 Viewer)

I have been taking my trucks to SDTrux for years. I am pretty sure they use Toyota OEM parts in most cases unless they deem an aftermarket part is better. For instance if a new Toyota part is not available, only reman Toyota and they feel an aftermarket part is higher quality. And in that case they fully disclose if asked.

I would be prepared to provide a lot more evidence that SDTrux is using aftermarket parts when they are claiming OEM. Did you ask them about the filter? What did they say? Best to take this up with the shop directly and not put a shop's reputation in question on a public forum unless it is warranted.
In my post #15, I linked a post with a photo of a very obvious non OEM radiator. The oil filter I discovered just this weekend, I have not communicated with them since July when I asked about the Toyota Radiator Part Number and MSRP pricing on invoice versus what is sitting in the engine bay. The title of this post is asking who has used SD Trux before and I have laid out my experience thus far.

I appreciate multiple perspectives. I’ve had great luck with some shops/dealers that others would never consider using again. And some guys rave about shops that I had bad experiences with and will never give my money to.

I always recommend the new rookies at work to base their relationships on their own experiences sprinkled with input from others. Just because someone is a dick to me doesn’t mean they will be to them!

I like SD Trux but it doesn’t mean everyone should. They’re pricey but who isn’t these days?!

My 1998 Toyota Landcruiser is maintained by SD Trux. John and Darryl have always been straight with me. Running strong at 316K!

Probably a little late to the party with this.

I've had work done by San Diego Trux on my 01 LX470. They replaced the transfer case I blew with a replacement from a salvage truck. They were upfront with me about costs, etc. Work got done well and relatively quickly.

I've also taken my 2021 HE to The Truck Shop to have front spacers installed. They damaged my brand new HE wheels (used a metal scraper to pull wheel weights off, taking off the paint to bare metal) and thought nothing of it when questioned. Said I could come back later for a "touch up" of the paint. Might be willing to give them a second chance, but would probably go to San Diego Trux first.

Truck shop just installed a Prinsu rack on my 99 LC and returned it with a 4-5" scratch in the paint down to bare metal. Covered it up with clear coat and did not tell me. Upon calling, they informed me that they have ordered touch-up paint and I can come back to have it repaired.

What would you do? I'm disappointed to say the least....

I'd demand they pay the cost to have that panel professionally repainted, if your cruiser is in relatively mint condition.

If it's got other scrapes, etc, I'd be telling them how pissed I was, that they're deliberately hiding things from owners, and need to compensate you for the repair. Touch up paint won't cut it.

I'd also make sure to let them know that they're about to lose the business of every cruiser owner in the SD community when you review bomb their business because of their shady practices.
