I bought a 62 for real cheap cause it knocked. Just tore the motor down and it had a spun rod bearing, another bad rod bearing and 1 bad main bearing. My machinest says it would have to be turned too far to straighten it out. Has anyone gotten used a reground crank from SOR. Does anyone know if they use good cranks and just turn to resurface or if they use cranks that need to be turned 20 or 30 to straighten out?

yes, any suggestions. looks like a new crank is about 1200 at $OR or a reground set for about 500, my numbers could be a little off. I wouldn't mind a used crank if it was only turned 10, but anything more than that I worry about the condition of the crank before it was turned.

Don't know about SOR cranks.

WRT to grinding:
It's machined when it's new. Machining it another .010" or .020" is just one or two more passes like at the factory. If it is done right, then it is right.

But if the machinist is saying a .75mm cut won't clean it up, then you're looking at sourcing a grind-able crank elsewhere, or sending your crank to the weld shop to be welded up and turned back down.
