I was itching to get out of town and cruise up to Big Bear. I got an opp to visit a friend up the mountain. Took the family up and cruised towards the northwest part of Baldwin Lake where 3N16 begins or ends; to the mine. A buddy of mine drove his LR3.

I let my wife drive the truck. Super chill. Beautiful day and weather.

Saw some jeepers out there on 37s. For the first time I'm considering selling my 80 to lift the 470, get some armor, and front and rear bumpers. I need to make this truck legit.
The 470 is so smooth and comfortable. I really dig driving this thing.

If your thinking about making the LX470 your trail rig; don't. I took that path and it ended poorly. I built my 2003 and planned for it to be a dual purpose DD and trail rig. It was fantastic as a daily driver but let me down on the trail. I struggled over obstacles that my 80 just walked right through. Every time I wheeled it I was reminded of how much I missed the 80. So I sold the LX470 and picked up a built 80 and an AWD Toyota Sienna for the wife and 4 kids. The van is the DD and the 80 is the trail rig. No more dual purpose vehicle. It's a MUCH better fit for both my wife and I. The LX470 is a great Daily Drive/Exploration(dirt roads) vehicle but if you want to get on the rocks then leave the LX470 as is and wheel the 80. Don't try to make it something it was never meant to be. I had to learn that lesson the hard way.
