Wondering if anyone has tried the Griffin iPod line-out cassette adapter successfuly in a Toyota player. Supposedly it uses the iPod's docking output plug and passes a few basic controls thru to the radio's buttons but has compatibility issues with many different brands of players & can't tell if it works with Toyota's or not.

im assuming the controls are, pause, play stop rewind fast foward. If the design is what im thinking...those little wheels control some sort of remote for the ipod.

Simple, smart idea...im curious if it works too...even though i dont even have a tape deck.

You know ..I tried two different units. The Monster cable (horrible) The best one on the Market is the Transpod..about 89.00 bucks..very little static. If there is static, simply lower the antenna and it is perfect.

For the same price (approx $90) you should get the Denison Ice-Link. It takes 5 min to install and yields superb sound quality, charges, and is controlled through the facotry deck.

Do you have a nav unit on the 2000 with the Denison? I am using the Transpod with a cassette adapter and I like it - FM works much better also if you lower the antenna.

I just checked the Denison site. They have the Ice-Link for the LandCruiser, but not the LX470. =(

call them to double check they are adding new units all the time

No, I used the Denison without a Nav unit and it works great.

Installation advice for Ice link?

Hi all.
I just found a new Dension Ice-Link for Toyotas (including my 99 Cruiser) on ebay for $0.01 + shipping! Yea! I believe there are more...

So now I need to install it.

Here is the business end:

So, the question: Do I need any additional cables or is this all I need and these plugs will plug into the back of the unit?

Optimistically, I'd like to install it in one go.

Any recommendations on where to install the cradle? I was going to try for the center console.

Thanks,
Pete

 How did you get that price?? I paid $90 but it is still worth it.

Yes, that is all you need. Follow the instructions or if you are like me, don't and it is a no-brainer. It took 5 min to install (including dismantling the dash and removing the stereo)

I think one of the connectors will be loose, I just taped it back to avoid rattling.

As far as routing, I was able to fit it behind the dash support and up into the glove box. That was there are no wires showing and the IPOD is out of sight out of mind.

Thanks for the info - I just bid on one too! I only listen to my IPOD in the Cruiser. Here in the East the airwaves are clogged with talk radio, commercials and now 24 hours of Christmas music. Besides, the tuner on my LC is weak. There are so many competing interests on the airwaves that the FM modulators are lousy here too.

I just installed the Dension Ice-Link.

Took about 2 hours cleaning parts as I went. First time pulling the radio fascia and the center console fascia. Easy, easy install. Plug and play. No splicing or manual wiring required at all.

I only used one of the plugs, into the back of the radio. Had one larger one left over... Seems to work perfectly though. Installed the ipod adapter in the bottom portion of the center console. Out of sight. ;)

I'll post some pics in a bit.

I got mine the other day for the grand price of $0.01 plus shipping ($14.99). Ironically, I live less than one hour from the source. It took less time to install than it did to figure out the controls. Works great. I use my IPOD in my office too, so I mounted it on the blank pannel to the right of the heater controls - no wires visible.

Hi Ed.

Question for you on your install. When I switch playlists, it is a bit slow to respond. ~5 seconds. Is yours slow as well?

Thanks,
Pete

I generally don't use playlists. I set the IPOD up to play the entire inventory of songs at random. However, that was the area I had a little trouble with when first installed. The instructions and the stereo are not on the same page.

One feature I like in my IPOD is the ability to search to a particular artist or genre and play just their stuff. There is no way to set that up on the stereo. But if you go there on the IPOD before hooking it up, it works out ok.

DO you have any pics of the final installation?
