Swapping my Kaon shelf over to new truck. I don't think I can get the black retainer clips off without mangling them. Anyone done this? I may just have to get new hardware from Kaon.

Is your shelf different than mine? Mine has 2 arms that come off the shelf and mount to the 3rd row grab handles by sandwiching them between 2 metal plates that bolt together. The only other mounting is to the 2nd row divider but it's just 3 (I think) bolts.
I replaced all my bolts that Kaon supplied with thumb screws and knobs so I can remove everything from the truck in about 5 minutes when I need to haul something. Reassembly takes 5-10 minutes as lining up those grab handle mounts is a PITA
Just checked Kaon and noticed there are 2 mounting options. Looks like the shelf is the same, it's just the extra mounting brackets
It looks like the retainers tighten into place with the bolt? Can you reinsert the bolt and push to loosen them somehow? I agree you may just need to source a new set of clips from Kaon.

I had to remove mine for hail damage repair. Take care to unscrew the bolt only enough to pry out the retainer. At that point you can see what you are doing and remove the nut bolt
Oops, I forgot to mention that you should gently pull on the bolt as you unscrew it.

Update for posterity and as a means to remind myself for next time.
I finally got back to this and got the Kaon fasteners out. The trick was realizing that the bolts can be removed and the plastic clips keep everything in place and you need to use a longer M6 bolt to thread back in and use it to push the retaining block out of the plastic retainer.(reverse the original install technique). Duh. Then the plastic clip can be pried out and the whole thing removed.
