Hi all,
One of my son's just purchased a new Tundra and is fixing up his 1994 Ranger to sell. It needs a new timing belt. The instructions that we have looked straight forward with no mention of SST's etc. So we tear it down. Then we find another set of directions that states that 1994 2.3l engines with California Emissions require that the auxillary shaft sprocket(oil pump sprocket we think), needs to be aligned on re-installation of the belt with the appropriate SST. Trucks with federal emissions ratings do not need this alignment procedure done. Can anyone tell me whether this alignment is crucial? If so, then we have come to the end of ourselves completing this project. SST doesn't seem to be readily available.
Thanks!
