Hey guys, anyone local running 2.5" lift with 315's on their 80?

I ordered the TJM 2.5" lift and trying to decide between 295 or 315 tires. Hopefully I can see a truck in person with the setup before I ordered the tires. Thanks!!

Clarence and brian are and I was until I sold my mts to Clarence. I will go 315 soon when these pos bfgs wear out.

Is that with OME lift? From what I read it is slightly taller than the TJM. Slee was unable to provide any firm numbers on how much lift I'll actually get.

This is how mine looked with ome mediums, arb, winch, 315s. Tjms can't be much lower than this, from what I have seen they def look taller

Great looking truck!! Any spaces or just coils? Based off this looks like I'll be going with 315 nitto's

If this is the case you need to update your sig line

Yep.. I've got some 1" spacers in the front..

Pos bfg ats.

I am ready for 315s.

I would like to have bfg 315s

If you're planning on 90% road.. And especially if you aren't planning on park wheeling then I would highly recommend going with 295s.

What makes you recommend the 295s.....better on road manners than 315s? At this point I'm not worried about the gearing. In all reality I won't do any major rock crawling in this thing. Just play off road every now and then.

Some people in the 80 forum reported that the tranny always seems to be searching for the right gear with 295s.

Yeah I bet it is a dog with 315s and stock gearing but I can always regear or eventually the truck will get a v8/tranny swap. I just hate to spend money on a lift and then run tires that could work with stock suspension. I guess I'll get the lift on and then take some measurements.

I say that both for road manners and weight. You will for sure feel the weight of the 315s when stopping. It will also add to your maintenence bill. Also shops have a hard time getting them balanced just right. The 295 is a true 33 something like 33.2 and the 315 is a 34 somthin if the tjm is truly shorter than the Ome I think the 295 would look a lot better (I like tall skinny though).
If i keep you 80 for I will get some 295 ats and through them on some taco Steeles for everyday use.

Or I was used to running 33 for so long..
Doesn't feel like the brakes just weight..
It will still stop but I can tell a difference.
I guess it's subjective.

Well crud, I new the repsonses would be all over the board.

So is anyone around Cullman running 2.5" lift with 315s? If so, maybe I can check out the rig. Lift should be on real soon and then tires to follow....

I will say this...
There is a lot more people running 285s that which they went with 315s than folks running 315s that wish they went 285s. Not a lot of folks seem to run 295s if you blow one it would probably be hard to find a place with them in stock.

I should have bought 315s...:bang:

Not local but I would go with 315's for sure. I ran 305's for about 4-5 years and for the past couple I have been running 315's. I bought Clarence's old 285 BFG A/T's but haven't put them on anything yet so I really can't say the difference between the two. My truck sat really good with my J springs and 30mm spacers in the front before I put my fr/rr bumpers, winch, drawers but after all of the weight it was riding low. I'm running 50mm spacers all the way around now and it sets pretty good. so really what I'm saying is my truck sets about the same as it did before the 50mm spacers and all the crap was put on it. If your gonna spend $1500 on 5 tires you might as well go BIG!!
