Its a Utah cruiser.. Appears to be sprung over, just wondering if anyone knows anything about it. On my quest for an LC, I stumbled on it and now my buddy is thinking he might pick it up.

I did. You think he really put 5k into it? Engine looks good enough. Appears to have rust on the back wheelwell though

Hey Hop Sing -
How about giving us a clue to your location: maybe in your sig line. And where you saw the 60.

As I stated, It's a Utah cruiser, and I saw it in on KSL. I'm in Osan, Korea. I was just wondering if it was anyone on here, so my friend doesn't have to drive all the way out to Provo and find out it isn't all it's cracked up to be.

$5k will barely cover a rebuilt 2f long block let alone any external component (carb, dizzy, header, p/s pump, smog pump, basic tune-up parts, etc). -M.

Wow, good to know. If my buddy doesn't jump on this I might... Somebody convince me not to...

I would see where the engine was rebuilt and ask for paperwork. You don't want a cruiser with a bad engine rebuild.

Yeah, I looked into this, and just to buy the rebuild parts, you will be well over $1000, then there is all the labor.

My local guy said that he would do it for $2500-$3000, if I pulled the engine, and dropped it off, and did the reinstall myself (this guy is highly recommended by a guy that used to run a cruiser shop in town) So $5k could easily be spent, if you had someon pull and reinstall the engine. Or if you had to replace anything else.

So how do i stop the infamous galley plug from getting f'ed?

If the cruiser in the picture has been in Utah it's entire life, it will have lots of rust. We salt the roads here big time, and any 20 year old vehicle that has spent it's life in Utah will need a lot of restoration. My fj62 spent most of it's life in Mississippi, and has almost no rust.

Hey, can you share contact info on your rebuild guy? I'm in the Salt Lake area, but a drive to SE Idaho would be worth it for a really good Cruiser mechanic.

What wrong with yours? Guy says there's only rust on the rear quarter panels and tailgate. I don't know, for 3k, is it worth it? I mean, its a sprung over vehicle on 35s with a rebuilt engine and a weber carb. from what i've read, the aisan carb is better.. I just don't know if i'm comfy recommending this rig to a very good friend. As long as the frame isn't rusty i guess.. He wants it for skiing and going on rock climbing trips.

Why don't you have a local check it out for you and then you would feel better about making the decision of whether to recommend it to your buddy or not.

Just a thought! ;)

i don't know any local cruiserheads :(

I'm going to just turn him loose on it and see if he bites. Thanks for the help though guys.

You might want to post in the Wasatch Cruisers in the clubhouse section perhaps and get somebody nearby to take a look at it foryou maybe.

I don't know if it's in/around Provo, but I believe there were some people from Spanish Fork, Payson, etc...

GOOD LUCK!!

Sure, I'll have my bud ask the guy who did the rebuild.. I'm pretty sure its in Utah, though.
