Nice thing about the Saginaw if you go with really big tires you can use the early 70's Coupe deville box. It has the same piston as the one ton chevys. Couple it with a modified pump and you can turn 42" swampers with 8lbs of pressure on asphalt with one finger at idle. I put that combo in a 60 with 35"
BFG's , could flip the wheel and it would spin 3/4 turn after I let go

Drawing

12-18-08 07:57 PMFryedaddyIf you ever think about going saginaw, I have a sketch that can be made easily. It's for a 67 impala or equivalent sag box. The whole process isn't that hard if you know a welder.

I would like to get a copy of that sketch. I'm in the process of putting p/s on my 77 FJ40. Thanks

not hard to make a OEM set up, just use a PS pump/bracket from a fj60, buy a OEM PS casting(housing)(from Toyota) get a mini truck PS box, swap the guts from the mini to the new casting.....and ya got OEM PS or darn close to it. But on a 78 I dont thinkg the block has the mount for the pump

Who else has a complete kit? I would like to buy a factory one like my 79 but had no response in the wanted section.

I'd never spend that kind of money on a kit when it can be pieced together for so much less. I put mini truck PS on my '78 a while back. I've got my own welder so it worked out really cheap, like under $100. I admit that I got lucky on my GB though, got it from a guy on Pirate for $50 plus $17 in shipping.

OMG! here we go again:rolleyes:

Too funny... I kept it very civil. I was conscious to leave out descriptive words like; "sucks"," :censor:", and ":censor:".

I thought it was a very zen like response.:)

I've bought multiple things and had a few in depth conversations with the guys at JT's. Very knowledgeable, not halfway across the US so shipping is not that bad. Never had any problems with them... But I have heard you better know what you're ordering!
