I've located a 1995 80 Series in the San Antonio TX area that I am interested in, but it is relatively high mileage (139,000). It looks clean int he photos and has some appealing extras thought. Unfortunately I live in the North East and making the trip down to look at a turd would suck. I didn't know if there were any enthusiasts in the area with a good knowledge of these trucks strengths and weaknesses that would be willing to take a look at it and report back whether it is worth thr trip or not. Here is the owners description...
"1995 Toyota Land Cruiser with factory Diff Locks, Non-USA Center Diff Lock button (for manual control of the center differential locker), Old Man Emu Suspension from Australia, new 33 inch BFG All-Terrain tires (3K miles on tires), front brush guard, rear light guards and PIAA auxiliary fog/driving lights.
NEW PARTS INCLUDE: Brake Rotors (all), pads, re-packed bearings (front & rear), master cylinder, parking brake (including all related hardware to parking brake), plugs, plug wires, distributor cap & rotor, PCV, battery, various hoses and starter. Also includes the new shocks, springs, castor bushings, steering stabilizer and BFG AT tires.
All fluids throughout the cruiser are synthetic (Mobil1 and Royal Purple) and are changed regularly. I recently had the steering wheel and front seats re-dyed and treated to rejuvenate the leather interior. I also had the cooling system serviced with BG products this summer. I added BG44K to the fuel system after every oil change to keep the fuel system clean and performance at its peak. I also added a K&N Air Filter.
I welcome any prospective buyer to have the Land Cruiser examined by a competent mechanic.
I bought this vehicle because it made a perfect family hauler and is very capable off road. I planned to keep it long term and added to its value and performance with the Old Man Emu Suspension System, Tires, Center Diff Lock button and all the maintenance and renewal of parts. However, recent family changes are forcing me to sell.
If you’re looking for a mall cruiser, this MAY not be the vehicle for you. While it will serve you well in this arena, it’s really set up for family adventure and reliability. Many less equipped (and expensive) Land Cruisers are available.
The Land Cruiser is in great condition for its age and mileage. It starts up every time and has provided me with reliable service the entire time I’ve owned it. There are a few light scratches in the paint here and there and more noticeable ones on the front bumper end cap where my wife “kissed” the garage while backing out. This is the closest thing to an “accident” since I’ve owned it. There are no major dings or dents. The running boards are slightly bent but it’s not very noticeable. I never addressed the running boards because I had plans to replace them with rock sliders. Owned by non-smokers since it was new. "
If anyone is in the area and willing to take a look, please e-mail me at: jeepeytr@hotmail.com. Thanks..
