Hi,

I just got my first cruiser and changed the easy stuff (plugs, filters etc), but my idle speed is about 950 and I know i need to bring it down to 650.

I have never checked the timing but would love to learn, so is there anyone in LA area who might have spare time to teach me (i can kick you a few bucks/beers for your time).

I just want to learn how to adjust the timing, vacuum test, compression etc. Basic maintenance stuff.

I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks all

50 dollars WOW WOW WOW

Hey all,

Just wanted to bump my request back up.
If someone spent just a few hours showing me basic maintenance stuff, I would be way up to speed on things and could then do a lot of the work myself.

I just need to be shown things once, and then I will get it.

So 50 bucks to whoever will help me out.

You can PM if u like, please I just need some help.

Help a rookie cruiser owner, my 87 is a DD, and i do pickups and runs all day at my job and really wanna know how to keep my baby purring smooth.

Thanks all

Hey, I don't mind showing you around your truck. I am in Simi Valley, if you want to come out on a weekend I dont mind helping you out.

Get a hold of Wasabi on this board or PM me for a phone number. Top notch dude and reasonable mechanic. Not so sure about the $50...but thats between you two.

the best teacher is you. you have to live and learn from your mistakes while working in your vehicle or you will learn very little and get frustrated over the littlest of things. therefore, hateng the whole concept of working in your vehicle.

buy a basic maintence book from a parts house, or a book store. i took auto shop in high school, and learned the basics.

after leaning the basics, the sky is the limit.

Take that $50 and get the toyota FSM, factory service manuals. Not the chiltons books or whatever that junk is called.

If you're in the San Diego area, you can give me a holler. I don't know everything, but I've done the basics...plus a carb rebuild or two...
