Cool. I will likely get started at the end of the month with the wire brush and see what kind of progress I can make.

My truck is my weekend and hunting vehicle. Can't afford the gas to make it a commuter!
 
Needle scaler to remove flaking, and then rust converter to chemically change rust oxide (corrosive) to black oxide (inert). Something with Phosphoric acid works best (gallic and tannic acid are the other general options). You can paint over the top of the rust converter, fluid film it, or leave it bare (black). I leave mine bare so I can keep tabs on it if there are some spots I missed. You can get a cheap needle scaler from harbor freight for around $20 (I've used the heck out of mine).

Or, we could all go in on a rust removing laser (they're only $80k and up.....)
