I’d like to see if there is power already run behind the headliner above the rear-view mirror. My ‘91 doesn’t have a sunroof or map lights and I’d like to explore adding some light in that area, but not sure if there is already a wiring harness there or not.

Any info or pics is appreciated!

If you don't have the map light or sunroof controls, do you have anything up there? If there's no blank panel or something, I don't see how you'd get to any existing wires without damaging the headliner.

I've got a 94 that probably has the same configuration as yours. If there are wires up there, they're bundled and pinned to the roof in a recessed area. If you push slightly on the headliner just above the windshield, you'll feel the interior roof panel. As you slide upward, the interior panel bends away. The wire bundle is up there. You might stretch out your headliner by trying to feel for it. Maybe use a long sewing needle as a probe.

If you check my post history, I made a thread about fishing wires through the pillars. Nukegoat posted pics with the headliner removed that should make it clearer where the wires are located.

My parts rig, from South America, had the wires running through the driver's A pillar, but no lights or power to the rear view mirror area. The closest power was mid-roof, in line with the B pillar, which was a overhead light. Is yours imported or a poverty pack?

Mine is a US “poverty pack” I guess. No sunroof, manual seats, no running boards, but I have power windows/locks.

Basically, I’m just wondering if they use 1 wire harness for every truck and perhaps the sunroof/map light wiring is just bundled up behind the headliner? Just wishful thiking?

My DX 80 has the roof console with sub-tank gauge and altimeter. I fitted a second roof light (over 2nd row seats) by splicing into the wiring for the identical light over the front seats).

I've never actually pulled out the headliner though to see what else is up there.

Power windows wow - no base-model 80's in Aus got that. Mine is manual windows and manual windows and no central locking.

Here’s a US model non sunroof ..I don’t remember if the 80 I pulled this roof from had power windows or not, or what other trim it did or didn’t have.. it did have the metal / cloth headliner
