I might be in the market for a known good 4spd case. I hace talked with Lance, He has one but is not sure of the condition. This is an option. The rebuild kit I ordered from JT Outfitters has not been shipped out yet, I ordered it last Tuesday.

Norm and I pulled the old case out, tore it down and inspected. It does not look to bad. I just want to drive the thing. I would rather keep the original case, and rebuilt it if only I could get the parts.

I talked with John at JT Outfitters, It looks like they were out of stock. He found one at one of his suppliers and is overnighting the part to me. I should have it in the morning. If this works out it will be a great save. I hope so this means I will be driving it again this weekend.

Well it looks like John at JT Outfitters came through!! I just got my package and inspected it. It sucks that they did not do it right the first time but they did a good job saving face. Wish me luck getting it all back together.

I was going to put a new clutch in it while I have it out this far but I have to teach Caroline how to drive a 4spd. Once she burns this one up then I will put a new one in it. It will be easier to do once the body tub is off and being painted.

Rob - if you had complications with your install and need a case and/or transmission, I can most likely pull the ('76) 4 speed and case off of my sbc 400 and bring it to the meeting Wednesday. It's the one you spoke to Lance about; so just let me know. Tim

Tim,

Rob spent Saturday rebuilding the old transfer case. I wss there for some of it, but had to leave. From my understanding, it went together perfect and rides/sounds great.

There were a ton of visual wear and tear on the bearings and seals. Lot's of caked in mud and rust, all taken care of with the rebuild. I'm sure Rob will post up as well.

See you Wed. Night...

Tim,

Thanks for the offer. As Norm pointed out I was able to get this one back together. I am glad I got the complete rebuild kit, everything but the gears were shot. I have driven it up to 50 mph with no problems noises that I know of. What a diffence bearings make compared to metal on metal. If something lets loose I will let you know.
I do not know what Lance charges to rebuild clean one of these but he would have earned it on mine.

Rob
