Anyone experienced these problems with 4.7?

well, unfortunately, we have plenty of 80s (1FZJs) with HG failure, unlike the 2U, but I don't remember any which got busted conrods because of hydrolocking.
then again, I would not be surprised if the 1FZJ has stronger rods.
I am referring to the rods now:

Stock Vs. Stock. The 1FZ-FE rod is alot stronger then the 2UZFE rod. I wish I have a 1FZ rod so we can compare the side by side.

SWUtah: You will be fine... enjoy your ride...... Just don't abuse it.

OK guys I was jokein with that post. I am sure Lexetreme knows what he is talkin about with a supercharged 4.7 needing stronger connecting rods. I am also sure that a non-supercharged 4.7 is one of the most reliable engines made. The reason I know this is because of all the LC/LX forums I belong too where the members own very high mileage LC/LX's that are abused daily and I have NEVER read one post where a LC/LX owner has reported having a broken connecting rod. Matter of fact compared to other vehicle forums there is almost no engine related problems with the 4.7. This is a non-issue unless you plan on super charging your 4.7 V8 and then I would follow Lexetremes advise on the internal build-up issues.

the only problem i have is the fact he said "The 4.7 rods break all the time" which on a % scale of the 4.7's applications i highly doubt. Maybe its more common for boosted ones, but the fact that the motor is used round the world and here in the us in the 4Runner/Tundra/Seqouia/Land Cruiser/GX470/LX470....make that hundreds of thousands of motors, and there is practically nobody complaining about their conrods? hard to imagine they break all the time.

Say 1 of every 20 boosted 4.7s busted a rod, that same amount would more likely be 1 of every 200,000 4.7s for N/A applications, IF that.

Question... do the connecting rods from a Japanese built 4.7 differ from a US built 4.7?

My intention always had been FI (Forced Induction) N/A is ok if not abuse but again any if you abuse it will break. Guys dont get me wrong. I am only refer BOOST APPLICATION.

I am 100% sure the Japanese version is the same as the US version.

Here is one example from one of our members:

More than "some of the time" and a half more than "half the time".

mind quantifying how often is "all the time"?
