Wondering if anyone has ever tested the fitment of a JL Audio Stealthbox for the Ford Expedition or Ford Explorer in an 80 series? The Expedition box looks like it might be closest to fitting behind the factory LC/LX trim. Plus it has better power handling. Main issue is probably depth. No idea how the Toyota and Fords compare in side-panel depth. Wondering if anyone ever seriously looked at this.

Here's the one for the Expedition - (Info and Pics from JL Audio website)

Contains one 10W6 in a sealed enclosure. 300 watt power handling. Wired for 3Ω mono. Installs inside passenger side cargo area trim panel. Stealthbox® installs with absolutely no loss of cargo space! Black, cloth-covered replacement grille included (see in-car photo)

and then here's the one for the Explorer

Contains one 10W1-4 in a sealed enclosure. 125 watt power handling. Wired for 4Ω mono. Fits both 2 and 4 door versions of these SUV’s. Installs inside passenger side cargo area trim panel. Black, cloth-covered grille included (see in-car photo). Stealthbox® installs with absolutely no loss of cargo space!

i think you should buy it and tell me how it works, i would buy it if it works

A long time ago, there was a person who claimed that he saw an installation that used a prefab MTX enclosure that was designed for an Explorer or Expedition. Unfortunately he couldn't find the info again on it.

I was remembering the same thing, only I thought it was a 4Runner?

Most prefab 4Runner enclosures that I've seen sit outside the stock sidepanel and take up some minimal cargo area. This may work if the wheelwells are similarly shaped. However, it may interfere with the 3rd row seating mounts. I was hoping to make something work behind the stock trim panel. I know others have felt the same, but I have some (limited) experience with fiberglassing my own custom enclosure. I saw an Expedition enclosure on ebay and wondered how close it was to fitting. Even if I have to grind, cut, or re-glass a section of it to make it fit. It doesn't have to look pretty if it's behind the stock trim. :)

My advice is don't bother......I built an ugly one last week (i'll dig out a pic) that fit behind. Airspace was 12.5" X 18" X 4" deep.....

All I could get in was an 8" woofer, and it wasn't nearly what I was after.....
