Hello - if anyone is in the Champaign area and you have swapped the Birfs side-to-side - I'd like to offer some cash, beer, pizza and a chance to meet a fell LC mud-lover. I am ok with a wrench - just don't want to do this job cold from a write-up. All I need is someone to supervise while I bloody my knuckles!

Hello Dave, Most of us are up closer to Chicago (with the exception of Bill and Vicky, but they are about the same distance South). If you were willing to drive up this way there are a number of us that would be willing to help out. Of coarse that would be for beer and pizza...

If you are ok with a wrench then you would be fine doing this yourself. The downside to swapping one side to the other is that you no longer have a reference to go by. You can do it, just allow yourself a lot of time for the procedure.

Scott - thanks for the information - I really should tackle this myself...I have a good write up and my idiot manual in on its way. Unfortunately - this may need to wait. I just found power steering fluid and coolant leaking this morning and I think the coolant is coming from one of the pans underneath and behind/rear of the engine. That with cloudy chocolate looking gunk under my oil cap. Wow, what a day.

I got the confirmation that I do have the beginnings of a failing HG around #6. If anyone has experience replacing a HG on a 1996 LC stock and you want a side job please PM me.
