Just wondering if anybody has the new toyo open country? i was looking at 285/75/r16 .

I have the Toyo Open Country m/t on my '99. The previous owner had just put them on when I bought it from him, so I can't really compare them to any other tires. The ride is smooth, and there is not much road noise, but that should be expected for a $55k vehicle! I previously drove a Ford Explorer that came with Goodyear tires, and I later put the Toyos on. The ride improvement was tremendous. Great tires, I'd say.

They kinda are a hybrid I think. They resemble the MTR's more than anything else. Look like a good tire.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I am asking hrc0105 if he has the AT or the MT tires on his vehicle. The MT was not available anywhere in Socal as of last month, at least in 285 75r16.

Gotcha CDog. Weren't these the tires that were supposed to have a good treadlife warranty or something?

i heard they came with a 50,000 mile warranty which is un herd of not sure how true that is ! hey calaridog do you know if they are available now in so cal?

I don't think the 50k warranty applies to the MT. I've seen the warranty on the Open Country M-410 tire which is more of a SUV road tire.

I have a set of Toyo M/T's on order. I'll let you know how they are.

availability?

Bad azz, I have no idea at this point if they are available in Socal. I have not seen a single set in San Diego on a vehicle?

Hoser, how long did they say they would take?

I'm definitely looking at these for a possible 2nd set (off road only), hopefully next year.

on the east coast it is the same answer, they have no answer when the m/t will be available and yes they are way expensive. i asked about the warranty and was told they had nothing in writing but the dealer stated he was kind of unsure about a 50,000 mile warranty on that tread style. backordered indefinitely is the words he used!

Just got off the phone with Toyo and Mia told me that IF they have enough orders for my size they will start production in 90 Days  Sounds like they are manufacturing on demand only.

"Bad azz Cruiser how do the bfg's compare?"

which one? the A/T or the M/T, i had the a/t's on two different trucks a toyota and chev. and thought for all around they did fairly well. i would say they seemed to do really well in snow, but this is s. carolina so we don't have a whole lot of that anyway. mud, of course they suck. i had to go to an open house last weekend for a bedliner company and they are all big jeep freaks there. for what it is worth they all said the mickey thompson is the ticket! (of course they all drive jeeps ;p) but i will say in the 33" tire range the tire looked really good, and is a hell of alot cheaper. just throwing another idea to you, of course they could suck!

I have had a set of 285/75/16 OpenCountry M/T`s on order since early Feb. and I am still waiting !! The last I heard (I have heard this before) Is 7-8 more weeks...I asked the Rep at Toyo what would happen if I had a blow out and need another spare...he said " It could be months before a replacement is available, and that the few tires they have "stashed" for warranty,etc..are quickly depleted.. This is NOT what I wanted to hear !! I am seriously considering canceling my order and get a "more available and proven" M/T instead...The thing that really bites is, There is no question that the Toyo is awesome , I have seen them in action and they are incredible !!

P.S. did I mention that two of my stock tires are leaking air and I Need tires NOW..(NOT IN 7-8 WEEKS..MAYBE) !!

ff347 i was looking to come up on some m/t's where did you get that quote for mickey thompsons sound like a good price! Anybody know how the ride is with those?

i just did a search and lucked up and found that, somewhere in seattle i think. here is a link though

i am sure you could save a few dollars here and there. the tread is a little more "open" than the picture lets on and the guys i talked to had some big money in the jeeps (and used them) and they all swore by them, opinions are like a**holes though, everybody has one. debating tires is always tough though because of all the variables.
