I got the combo screwdriver/socket valve adjust tool from Snap-On as a gift (part # YA8880). The socket is for a 12mm nut, but I'm thinking the nuts are 14mm on my 10/85 60. I got no desire to take my valve cover off at the moment while it's 10 degrees outside.

I searched and found JimC's valve adjustment write-up, and he mentions 14mm twice in there, so I'm sure that's right. But it seems like there are differences, maybe larger (17mm) ones in some 60's? Any smaller ones?

I've seen this part number on MUD before, but maybe it was for people with 22RE's.

Thanks.

12mm on every 60 and 62 I have done.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I get to keep it!

Either 12mm or 14mm, depending on year. I bought one of those adj tools for a 14mm and the lock nuts on mine (5/85) were 12mm. I ordered the supposed 14mm part # nuts from toyota and they came as 12mm nuts, so I guess they've been superseded. I think the earlier 2Fs had the 14mm nuts, but don't know when it changed.

I gave the tool to someone who works on 14mm ones all the time....

And FWIW, and not to undercut the snap on stuff, but you can get the same thing at O'rielly's as a powerbuilt brand for a lot less...

You can also ghetto-fab one if you need to:

Nice homemade tool. I bet that'll do the trick.

Toyodiy.com lists one part number for the nut from 8/80-9/84, then another one from 10/84-7/87. Since Spike's 5/85 truck has 12mm, and mine is a 10/85, I'm going to assume they're also 12mm.

Suppose I could just go outside and look.
