What tire?

I just bought tires and wheels from an online source. My first choice for tires were sold out, so pricing aside you may have to go with whatever is available.....

Well...this isn't super helpful. Discount Tire and Simple Tire (maybe the same company?) do $100 off $400 deals pretty regularly. (last one expired on 11/3/2021). This is how I bought my last set of tires.

Pro Tip: Simple Tire sold my tires in Lots of 1, 2, and 4. I made two orders and bought two lots of 2 and used the coupon twice. Nothing complained on eBay and my tires all shipped together under one tracking number.

Mopar is doing 4 tires for price of 3 right now. I'd be skeptical they haven't just jacked the price of 3 tires though.

275/70/18 is a much more common size and only about 0.5” difference on the diameter. KO2s are about $280 vs the $400 you’re seeing for a 285/70/18.

I recently picked up 4 used one year old (by date code) km3’s with about 500 miles on them for $500 total. I haven’t bought a set of brand new tires in many years. When I get to where I know I need tires about a year out I start looking at Craigslist etc. to find a deal. I don’t need those km3’s for probably another 7k-10k miles but they’re ready to go when I do need them. Some people look down on used tires, but I’ve never once had a problem. Just something to consider.

I've purchased several sets of tires from Tirerack online for fair prices.

I don't look down on used tires. Personal choice and all that. I personally can't justify saving the tradeoff possible in used tires. For me, there are too many unknowns on used set to use them on a vehicle I need to rely on. They're a critical safety component - literally the only thing between my vehicle and the road, essential to handling, stopping and maneuvering. IMO, well worth spending more for new, if it is financially possible.

Having 275/70/18's on my LX with TRD wheels, I can attest they are just as good as the 285's and I plan on putting them on my cruiser when it needs them. Save some moola and aggravation and get them.

Edit: I'll put 275/70/17's on the cruiser as it has Rock Warriors.
