I don't remember where, but there was also a way to check gearing by the color of paint on the pinion lock nut. Might be worth adding if anyone knows the colors.

I have an idea. Instead of this subtle thread, essentially a FAQ you need a dedicated FAQ thats stickied.
2ndGenToyotaFan did a damn good job at building a FAQ in the other truck forum. You should do it like Jerod.

I've been intentionally not doing this to wait to see what the Wiki section would grow into. If you guys would both keep your pants on- we'll see. If the Wiki section meets the needs of an FAQ section- great. If it doesn't- we'll do one here. I didn't think it was a good idea to have dueling FAQs.
