Guys and Gals,

I'm looking for a reputable shop in our area to repair/replace the headgasket on my truck.

Long story short, I had a crankshaft oil leak. I removed and replaced the crank pulley using the starter bump method. I then put in the new seal and torqued to specs. Then ran the engine and I have no oil pressure.

With troubleshooting the no oil pressure issue has led to the headgasket blowing on me.

So if you know any good mechanic/shop in the area let me know. Thanks.

I want to see what the local shop can do first before I go to the dealer (Priority). I know there is a machine shop on Great Bridge by the Water Tower on Battlefield Blvd. I may have to call them.

Noel, sorry to hear that. I have a good shop local to me, a little shop called IPOR :p

I noticed a new off road shop down centerville towards moyock, called "twisted diesel" of course by the name it's obvious what they specialize in but I've seen a lot of big trucks in the parking lot, and I dont know if they do mechanical stuff or if it's one of those accessory type shops.

That place is up the road from me. Seems like they have a lot of business. What I got a kick out of was they have gift cards available and logo shirts like they are popular. Maybe there some kind of franchise.

They are new like mike was saying.

I found a machine shop in Va Beach and they are called the THEHEADSHOP, they look decent in the picture but I have not got the chance to call them. I'm going to tear this engine apart and I will replace the headgasket myself plus will take a lot of pictures for future use.

Mike, have not seen you in a long time, how you doin' bud? Anyway, if you want to drop by during dis assembly, you are more than welcome:grinpimp:

Yea I'd like to check it out, when are you tearing into it? I never pass up automotive work! So you doing some head work to crank out some more power i hope?

I would never go to Twisted Diesel, plus they only service full size diesels ... Like I always recommend, BulletDriveline, Joe is the owner/mechanic and tell him Josh Risser sent you.. He is amazing, and the hardest working guy I have met.

Hope it works out for you Noel ...

Thanks Josh. Joe can do headjobs too? I'm going to call him and see what he can do for me.

Yeah, he pretty much does everything, but specializes in drivetrain ....

This week we are dropping some 5.38 NITRO gearsets, and front and rear ARBs, into the F-350 ... along with a front Warn free spinning locking hubs and Dynatrac 2" shafts ... stuff like that ...

Front will be a Dana 70 really, and of course the rear 10.50"

Let me know what he says, Happy Valentines Day ! ... hahaha

^^^that thing sounds like a beast!

So do you know how much he would charge for the DC drive shaft mod for a cruiser? I have a taco shaft in my garage just waiting to get done.

Prolly around a hundred bucks ... He always can rebuild shafts for cheap, he can also build a double cardain from scratch too, but I couldn't give you a price on that ...

haha .. OMG it will be, I had to buy some 47" 10 ton jack stands just to do the lift. I have always, always wanted a diesel Unimog, but a nice one is so pricey, so I figured I could basically turn this diesel 350 into a unimog ... Eventually I will have the portal bolt on hubs for it .. but I'm gunna run it this way for a little bit ..

Still looking. This 2010 4Runner Trail Edition are hot like pancakes, the minute they touch the stealership's parking lot, they're gone in 60 minute:steer: I may have to order one just to make sure it won't go away when I get to the dealer.
