I know this is not a technical question and wondered if this should be in the SQOD thread but I chose to post here.

Im asking as the HE model ages some unique bits and those more subject to damage, headlights and grill, will become harder to find new. Anyone thought if theres a benefit to buying and storing for future use? I have done in the past for other vehicles and worked out in my favor due to limited life of parts on manufacture shelves especially for limited production trims. My impediment on this go round is the crazy cost of just these 3 parts to have sitting around, its a good bit of coin to have tied up "just in case".

Anyone else worked this cost benefit to help me in my decision?

I’m conflicted here, if limited-run parts are bought then Toyota may continue making them longer as they see demand. But I spend a lot of time in the classic Porsche world and I generally loathe those that hoard parts.

Idk, you do you but something about it turns me off. I know some cars have turned into investments, doesn’t mean I gotta like it.

I do that for vehicles I don't even own, have never owned and likely will never own 🤭 @napir and I will be best of friends..

After seeing how much some of the discontinued Viper, Supra, R34-GTR, etc can sell for and how difficult they can be to get.

Case and point, I laughed when Toyota increased the Supra floor mats prices from $69 to $99. Then they got discontinued and now can sell upwards of $1,000 /set.

If you come across a decent deal and have the cash why not?

One of the best things I did when I had my FJC (while not bespoke) was to pick up a take-off exhaust on the cheap when it popped up. I let it sit in a box for about 5+ years, nearly forgotten about. Then one day my exhaust broke in half at the muffler. Felt like the smartest person on earth being able to grab it from the basement and pop an essentially brand new OEM exhaust on. I assume if you cracked a HE grill and happened to have a replacement collecting dust it would be awesome.

don’t own an HE but looked at a few for sale that came with brand new spare wear parts. I think one spare drivers side seat bottom and a steering wheel are worth stashing but other than send it!

Living in Oootah, I thought long and hard about such limited editions. Then I decided that a having a spare wife was not worth the additional costs. As such, I spend a lot to maintain the current limited edition wife. That pays off in the long run. YMMV

Appreciate feedback and the D/S leathers are discontinued per dealers. The steering wheel was replaced by PO already and I cant justify sinking close to $4k in headlights and a grill to sit JIC.

Gonna repurpose those funds for something more immediate.
