Hey, I've got a 93 FZJ80, and I'm doing the front axle seals. The D/S is shot. I've got the kit from Adams today and I'm going to get started on it. I'm a one banana kind of guy, so I'm seeing if anyone around town lives near I-70 and Noland Rd. could stop buy some time and see if I'm doing everything correctly. I'm going off of the axle rebuild tech info on the mud tech page. Any guidance, or help would be greatly appreciated!!! My name is Andy and my # 786-1597. Or PM me. Thanks

Well I got the birf's out and got almost everything cleaned up( D/S had a ton of GUMPTA on it). I messed up one of the oil seals when I drifted it in. The spring popped out of it. I tried for like an hour to put it back in, but didn't have any luck so I ordered a new one and pulled it out. Bummer!

I'm at a stand still right now till tuesday. I ordered two new seals, so I'll have one spare just in case. I was rifting it with wood last time...but I think I'm going to cut some pipe that will guide the seal in a litter easier. Thanks for the advice! I'll make an extra check on the seat and make sure it is baby smooth.

Not sure if the 4Runner axles are similar, but I used an impact socket and inserted it into an wrong end of a socket extension.

How timely this thread is...I was doing this last night. I did exactly what randy is showing only I used my 54mm socket instead. At one time I used a seal driver I got from Harbor Freight but it seems to be lost in the abyss I call my garage. The drivers work great because they give a more positive feel of how the seal is going in.

I just did mine a couple of months ago. Used the New Marlin Crawler Axle seals. This was on a 76 FJ40 axle. Don't know if they make them for an 80 series. But they have a nice lip on the them for a positive set.

Nope, not yet anyway.

I'm planning on doing the seals this weekend...I'll try using a socket and see how it works...I gotta see if i even have a 54mm!? thanks for the advice!

Well I finished up the front axle this last weekend, and everything went smooth! Considering I've only had the LC since Aug. , I'm surprised that I didn't have more trouble than just the oil seal. Man, refilling the front Diff. via a hand pump sucked! I used almost 3 1/2 32oz. of Lucas. It took forever to pump in. Now I need to drain the T/C and the rear Diff., but that can wait till another weekend.

Thanks for all of the feedback on my questions!
