Hi guys, I'm currently enrolled in a metal trade school and am lookin to make some money while working on my hobbies, since I don't have time to get a job yet. I've been eyeing the threads about modifying harbor freight winch mounts to fit behind the front bumper of the 100 series. I was wondering if people would be interested in getting one already converted to fit onto the 100, at a cheaper price than more sophisticated mounts like the Trail Tailor or Asfir. Both are great mounts, I just see this as a way to bring a cheaper and more accessible option to the 100 community that still is very strong and works great. For reference I will include the posts with the basic idea below. Let me know what you guys think!

Sub'd to see what you come up with!

Following to see what you come up with, but the two examples you shared shouldn't be replicated. In both cases, the owner removed the bumper and replaced it with a winch. This is unsafe.

If you can come up with a mounting solution for a 100 series that puts an HF Apex behind the bumper cover without removing the bumper, I would be interested.

Judging by your suggestion I’m guessing you haven’t removed the bumper before. There is definitely no space to mount a winch AND leave the “crash bar” intact. I’m not going to do the FEA on it but judging off my educated and experienced assessment there isn’t much of a different in strengths between the stock bar and the 1/4” steel U channel that I and other have replaced it with.

Did you ever come up with anything?

@TysonLC interested if you ever started fabbing these
Hey guys, yea i actually did make one for me a couple months ago. But have yet to put it through any real stress, besides messing around. I've had many other projects stacked up so it's been kinda put on hold, also the welder was sent out for repair a couple weeks ago. But here's some pictures I've got of it. I imagine with a fixture, cut out template and a basic drawing of the parts I could crank them out pretty fast. What do you guys think of the through bolt design and the factory bolt on the front? I feel like it would definitely be strong enough for a 12k winch especially if I can get the parts cncd to fit precisely right over the holes that were bored out in the frame. (Mine done by hand fit pretty good, but obv the smallest tolerance is gonna be best). Let me know what you guys think/would want to see out of this!

Personal preference but I'd probably raise the mounting surface a couple inches higher.

Like raise the whole mount up for higher clearance? I have it where it's at because puts the fair lead housing at the bumper grill. Also at this height the winch without the control box fits without notching the center support, so you could wire it in from somewhere else to avoid cutting. But for me and my badlands winch I only had to take off a little bit as seen in the second picture.

The link in the first post is practically the same design. The fairlead is just lower than I'd prefer but I suppose it is easier to access the free spool lever as it sits.
