I am refreshing the FRP on my 73 with headliner, seals, etc. and the window trim is pretty tired from 30 years in Spain. The soft goods (window runs and seals) are no longer available from Mr. Toyota.

While we will likely fabricate some replacement pieces to replace the worn out stuff, it also raises other possibilities. Looking at options and considering something like Kevin Rowland's 60-80 Series replacement frames to convert OEM side windows into flip-up gullwings in the first photo below.

There are lots of solutions for 60s, 80s, Troopys, etc. but nothing for the MWB 73/74. The range of options include aluminum, steel and glass panels. Kevin is not currently active (near as I can tell) and I have reached out to Yota TEQ to see if he might like to consider expanding the line. Have not tried the Australian or South African vendors yet.

Any interest out there in the 73/74 community for a flip-up alternative to the sliders? Not a big market and certainly not inexpensive.

Thanks

I would definately buy a pair.

Ward, like many things LC, it would come down to $$$$. That said, I would be quite interested.

Surprised you'd say that since with funds being a bit limited, I can send them to Ward or you. :flipoff2:

Not to put too much of a damper on this but Yan was able to get glass runs and division bars for my rear sliders.....

Gracias .... If they are getting hard to acquire, it might be worth the $$$ to have some on the shelf.

At least that's what I'll tell the :princess:

Anything for an almost 30 year old non-US vehicle is worth having a new one on the shelf.

Yan was able to get them fairly easily about a year ago. They go up to around 2004.
