A friend sent me this today....

"So, I was at Wendy's this afternoon in Minnetonka. In the drive through there was a red, yes red, 80 series Land Cruiser. It had a split rear door with a wiper on each window. It had the European style side turn signals on the front fenders, an extra break light on each rear door, and a center stop light. It had a Minnesota "Loon" license plate and a white and black oval sticker on the rear bumper that said "CH." It was left-hand drive and said "AWD" and "24 Valve" on the rear doors. It also had the oval "T" front grill and a different looking front bumper with 15" factory wheels. I wonder where the guy got it from."

Any ideas on this vehicle?

Thanks!

-Steve

Sounds like a Swiss(CH) FZJ80, the "extra 2 brakes lights" are actaull rear fog lights. Prolly also had headlight washers. damn cool rig! Front bumper.....seeing how it looked different might have had a OEM winch in it. Red.........as in BRIGHT red........80s look sweet in bright red!

Someone snuck that in........good job :) actaully its prolly not much of an issue bringing it in....for the most part its the same as a US spec rig

I've seen what I think is the Yota winch in the bumper damn cool.

John,

It was 'bright red, real red'... Those other lights on the rear doors were along the side of the door, next to the outer tail lamp assemblies...

Tim also said the the rear doors/windows are two different sizes, and had seperate wipers...

You have pictures of just about EVERYTHING having to do with Toyota...Do you have any of these euro 80's? ;)

Thanks!

Where's AsiaRider? A post finally turns in his direction and he's go AWOL.

I am here. I was just a few days not online since I finally moved in my new house (took seven months to build it). So when I moved in no telephone line yet and so no internet. But now everything is fine.

Yes, that rig is a european version from Switzerland. I am not sure about the year of manufacture because it has AWD written on it or maybe it was a 4 that looked like an A. Otherwise the usual TOY stuff. As for the doors some people like these doors more than the usual setup.

Not a nice one for Rick. Too much Bling, Bling already. Maybe some more surprises inside ??

Nice to see that you can find my type of a cool rig in the USA too.

Well this is as close as I can get with what I have scaned.

But this is a RED 91 Swiss(or maybe german) 80, the grill, emblems and drivetrain, ect will not be the same as what was seen, but the doors, and rear fog light(they are VERY bright red, so folks see your ass-end in the fog)

last one is a French 93, but shown because of the front bumper(and cover)which is a OEM electric winch

I have the latter 80s german and swiss lit but not scaned

In picture #2, is that a step ladder connected to the bumper? Ah, hence the 4 holes in the bumper...

Droooooooollllllllllllllllllll.................................

Thanks for the awesome pictures!

That's exactly what the truck looked like except for the newer front grill. It probably did say 4WD, not AWD. It definitely said 24 Valve, though.

I think I've also seen this truck getting a car wash in Wayzata. Obviously this guy must know a thing or two about Land Cruisers, otherwise why would he go through all the trouble to get one of these into Minnesota?

Cool. More likely UN

Thats one nice looking LC.. like the way the rear tailgate doors open up.. but i do like the way the 80 open up....as well!!
