Got a PZJ 70 MRS the factory soft top SWB, just put on 2" lift and ARB lockers front and rear. Find the new M/T 35" tyres and rims rub on the back of the wheel arch. It has front and rear leaf suspension. Has a FRP top from a MWB that I shortened and replaced the windows to fit.

Is there a way to sort this without more lift as this requires a mod cert (2" max. allowable) or cutting the back of the wheel arch. Thought about a block between the leaf and axle as a easy solution but this will require a cert also and I think that may actually be illegal for road use in NZ.
Any ideas?

Hello,

You can move the front axle 30 mm (a little over 1 in.) forward to accommodate 35 in. tires. You have to drill a couple holes in it.

You can also chop the guards a bit to prevent rubbing, but this might not be a good idea. Not in my book anyway.

There is also the SOA option.

Last but not least, you can use pizza cutters, i. e., narrower tires.

Just swap your front springs in reverse and you will clear it without cutting and it will look better also.

That frp top looks really good on it!

What wheel arch fenders are those ? They look like LWB 5 door 70... Where did you get them ?!?!?! :grinpimp:

i have done this on a MWB 70 series, just re drilled the diff perch locating holes offset by 25mm, clears the 35's no worries and they are 12.5 inch wide ones also.

job was not too hard either just unbolted the diff and shoved it over a bit, re-drilled the holes from underneath and re-installed.
