Any hunters in the club?

I used to hunt about 15 days/year - a fair amount there, but mostly around here. Then between my hunting buddy moving out of state, and there being more hunters than birds around here - I all but have quit now. Sold my duck boat, Splash's hips won't allow her much work any more I fear (haven't tried to push it since diagnosed). Gary had a SWWWWEEET setup before, not sure what they are doing this year.

saturday wind was gusting 30mph here so stayed out of woods...I went out last weekend under similar conditions and deer did not move until after dark as the wind died. Hoping to get out one day after work this week and again on Veterans Day! If windy again might just take AR out and try and call in a coyote. :)

veterans day...

I will be out in the woods on veterans day. Hopefully it will be a good day. Last time out I saw 7 does and shot 1. Looking for another nice Doe or a big buck. :D

2 DOWN......

shot 2 does DRT at 75 yrds last night! :grinpimp:

So will have deer meat for the next even maybe two :hhmm:

will try to post a pic here in a few

Anybody else out hunting deer or ducks?

going out in morning again to see if I can get another big doe....but saw a huge daddy buck for first time on cameras...and owner says she sees it when she comes home from work in evening so might have to try and slip in to another part of property and see if I can catch him by surprise one day before end of season. Gotta love a property owner that wants you to kill more deer and turkey! :)

congrats on the does Adam. I am hoping to have a place lined up for next year so I don't have to miss another season.

Im looking a club a little closer to me. The 1.5 drives not too bad especially since its free! We will see what we find.

Brock where do u hunt?

Outside of Charleston....

Property is for sale so may need a new spot in next year or two so keeping my eyes open...but got a nice one Friday night...took an hour to load him into my LX470. 9 point...nice dark rack from rubbing cypress and others in the swamp...going to do a european mount on this set.

Merry Christmas

nice! i dont think nc turkey is till may. then the damn thinks are hiding in the woods. right now they are everywhere!

nice birds...NC does have a fall/winter turkey season from which you can take hens also in some (mostly northern) of the top harvest counties. I hunt them in Granville county where there is two seasons...I typically see more turkey up there than deer when I am hunting deer...Actually the spring seaon starts around the second week of April each yr.

Did a three overnite/four day canoe trip down the Neuse from Smithfield to Goldsboro (38 miles thru the "LetLones") w/ three other folks the 22nd to the 25th. Once you get below I-95 in Smithfield it is 22 miles to the next bridge. Came out w/ two doe and a small feral pig (about 70 pounds). We make this trip typically 4 times a year and do this kind of stuff all the time here in Goldsboro. Also big fox squirrel and turkey thru there. Plenty of ducks to in the swamps and on the river.

Doing the same trip, just a little shorter (30 miles) and 2 overnites the weekend before thanksgiving...

I know this is an old thread but any details on this type of trip? Where are you camping and where are you hunting? There doesn't look to be any game lands on the Neuse so I guess someone has private land?

@tgadd where do you live? You can duck hunt pretty much anywhere on public water. People downeast get run funny about their duck blinds, so be careful. I have not Deer hunter the last 2 years due to my divorce. I'd like to shoot a deer!

I usually spend a few days in a deer stand around the holidays. My inlaws have a lot of land in Wilson County. This year will be a little off as my father-in-law was laid up most of the 2nd half of this year with knee issues. So I'm working out details with him now to begin taking over some of the maintenance, upkeep, and expansion of the stands and feed areas.
I have been dove hunting a few times and enjoyed an outing for pheasant, chukar, and quail several years ago.

Charlotte.

Just moved back in August so I haven't had time to scout with the new job. Planning on putting in a lot of time next year though. Hoping to find some people around here to lease some land for deer next year.

To keep a deserving old thread alive, I'm in Charleston and hunt deer (bow & rifle), turkey, dove, and my passion--wild quail. I used to travel out west to hunt mule deer and elk, but that's since been replaced with upland bird hunts. Two weeks was Oklahoma, last year Maine, previously, MT, SD, etc. I've never been on a guided hunt, 25 years of public land hunting out west, and WMAs locally. Below are my two German Shorthairs in western OK a couple of weeks ago.
