Doing research on stereo install into 2000 LX470 with Nakamichi. Found all I need to get it going.
Now, I am spoiled with 360 cameras in all new cars and I want something like this in my LX.

Does anybody have direct experience installing something like this? Does it work? Crap?
I envision it like so:
1. Kit "black box" does all the magic with cameras and simply outputs video signal
2. I can use this video signal in any regular stereo with video-in, just like backup camera
3. In some stereos you can also turn on camera using menu, so that would be useful in tight spots

Something like this?

I have thought about something like this for a while - my other car has a 360 deg camera set up which is really helpful in tight parking situations in Chicago.

Yep. I hooked on it with my 570. And for kid - it would be nice to have it.
Currently I am researching "system"

Will see what they answer to my questions, but it might be what I go with

Unless you are dead set on a 9" + screen size, I would recommend getting a non-floating type headset. These floating types start creaking after a little while and in some cases the screen mount gets loose the whole screen rocks on every bump!
You can get up 7" screen that would fit in the double din hole, which should be plenty for most day to day use!

My only exposure to 360* cameras are with Lexus “loaner cars”, but I did find it interesting enough to do a cursory search in aftermarket retrofit kits.

I’m curious on what you find.

I am not. Reason I look at it - because this is all they have and seems like their own 360 setup works naturally, lot's of good videos for Teyes.
I originally thought about some plain SONY/Pioneer double-din setup.

Did some more research. So far Teyes CC3 360 looks good. But I can't figure out how to buy it. Seems like largest retail is in Australia which is not a big deal, but they slow to respond right now.

Second thing - what they list for early LX470 seem to put screen floating low.

OTOH- Amazon seller shows bezel and mount perfect for my taste. Will hang over antenna and clock, which I don't both need. And look good IMO. But it doesn't look like good place to order since no accessories (360 required different MB, etc)

Will wait on responses. If not - may need to either:
A. Order regular non-specific version (meaning no bezel, no wiring). I don't really need LX wiring, I got all that stuff already. Try mount myself using $15 bezel and backer plate. Should be pretty easy fabrication.
or
B. Scratch that and go with brand name 2din and rear camera.

I didn't find any other better solutions for 360 cameras.

I am not a fan of Androids in general. But for CarPlay and cameras if screen decent - how bad can it be really? I feel for guys with 2003 where they replace Climate control and so on. Nothing like that in my case..
