Any concerns> Michelin Cross-Terrain 265 70 17 Truck/SUV Tires

Craig's list. I'm thinking about getting these for my rig. What do you guys think about the "slightly cupped" and "they'll even out."

He's asking $250 for 4

Set of four. 265/70x17" Truck/SUV tires.

Load index or rating is 113S (2535#). They're two-ply, not ten-ply.

Measure 6/32nds inch or better uniformly across each tire.

Fronts were slightly cupped from misalignment; switch them to the rear for 5000 miles and they'll even out. Not noticeable on the rears.

And you can call them truck/ SUV tires all day long, till the cows come home... fact is they're car or "street tread" tires...

As long as you don't go off road any or have lockers if you do, you'll be fine...

What he said! Really, once the tires are cupped, the tire will seem to follow that pattern and never "smooth out" from what Ive seen. Not a safety or performance issue - only a noise/nuisance issue.

I didnt not think a 2 ply tire could be rated that high. weird.

I've seen michelins with 2 ply sidewallys wider than BFG AT 3 ply side walls...

I attribute that for a good ride and ppl that know what they're doing with a tire...

But it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the 3 ply BFGs though...


You wanna see a weak sidewall... SSR is your huckleberry!

We have Cross Terrains on our 4Runner that the wife uses. We got 30,000 on them and I was looking at them today and all 4 still look great. They got at least another 30,000 on them. They have been a fantastic tire for the snow/ice, low noise, mileage, and durabilty.

But, I wouldn't take them where I've taken my 80. I was told that the CTs do better at load balancing than any tire available. I'm believing it with my set but the cupping would concern me. Other than that, if you're not doing aggressive offroading, they are about the best tire I've ever owned.

That's a great tire for street use, in fact perhaps the best for the 80. However once a tire is cupped or even worn unevenly they're never going to "even out". That's pure myth. Often they get worse. Also, used tires are a bad idea on the 80 as it's full time 4wd and slight wear differences will cause havoc with your fuel economy as the center diff will bind.

They have 50% tread left and are cupped. I wouldn't mess with them. Like they said it takes alot of miles if ever to get them worn even again. Lack of rotation, bad shocks, alignment could all be the cause.
