I've been toying with the idea of getting a 12' tin boat (I had one decades ago), but this time with a steering console of some kind (reaching behind to keep the outboard in line is a pain...literally).
I would it to seat up to 4 people (a bit of a stretch perhaps) and use it mainly for fishing/touring around lakes.

But while browsing ads today, I spotted an interesting unit, a 12' Boston Whaler Impact. Looked like a pretty neat little unit.
I know the Whalers have a great rep, but I've never heard of these little ones before. I see they have a newer model with a different name as well now.

too heavy. get the tinny.

Wasn't It Hardfort Whalers?

I am kind of partial to the 12' welded Alum boat that Super Dave is promoting. But I'd say 3 adults max. For bigger lakes/rivers, you'd want something a bit bigger. Better get one quick so you can take us out for Socks! ;)

Well seating for 4 being 2 adults and 2 kids. And what the hell are you talking about Super Dave promoting?

And Dan, you are officially a wuss now :p

People have time to fish??? I gots to get me a life!

sounds like Jeff is starting to lean towards more light duty trails, first an 80, then we never see it on the trails, after we have pics of him in 2WD accessible trails with the family and still no sign of him on the club runs. Now he's talking about a boat and trailer, what's next, a Ford with a camper? or are you going straight for the 30' RV?
Just sell me the 45, it's obvious you're never going wheeling again.

The progression is predictable and well doccumented.
1) Sail boat
2) Power boat
2) Motor home
4) Rest home

I'm guessing he's talking about the Spratley, he mentioned he and (ex CC pres) Dave Romaniuk designed, or something like that.

Spratley Boats

They are kick ass, wide flat bottom aluminum fishing boats. Down side is they are heavy and expensive (compared to, say, a Lund 1236). Upside is they're built like tanks and are super stable, great for stand up fly casting.
Sheldon has a 12 footer and wow it's a great boat to fish out of. I wouldn't want to try to hoist it onto the roof of a lifted 80 though.

Is Dave on the board? Do we get a deep discount for being CC members? :grinpimp:

Yep, that's the one. His bud had one on top of the blue 40 at Cruiser Days. I'd sell my 12' riveted Al boat any day for one of those - if it wasn't too $$$. Deep CC discount sounds like a good idea. :)

A little bitchy tossing it on the roof

I THINK the 12 footer's around $2300 or so. And it weighs almost 200 lbs empty.
But they are definitely sweet.
