I'm Mike in Little Rock, AR there is a set of Sherwood speakers for sale on evilbay in Aberdeen that I need. Ok need is the wrong word, I collect vintage Sherwood stereo equipment and the '60's Sherwood speakers don't come up for sale often, there are not real good speakers but they look great next to the vacuum tube Sherwood gear I have. Looking for someone to pick them up, either box them up or build crates and drop them off at a shipping depot. Yes, lots of trouble, if I thought the Pig would make it(and I could get a loan to pay for gas) I'd take off that way. This would be a great thing for me and really need some help.

Aberdeen is not very close to me but I understand your plight. The seller is willing to ship the speakers ? Did you ask nicely ? Often I've been able to get the seller to ship with some monetary incentive. Just some ideas. Worst case I can make the trip and pick them up, ship'em, etc. How big are we talking and how much weight ?

My Best,
Cahil

P.S. PM's are good but personal e-mail is better.

Holy - whateverexpletiveofyourchoiceinhere - those are *gorgeous* !!!

Those puppies are 90 lbs each. Shipping is definitely going to be the difficult part of this transaction.

Your gonna be pushing around $200 to box, ship, and insure those speakers.

Sherwood

It's the first pair of that model on evilbay in over 2 years, last set was MN and they would not ship either. I have a set of the smaller Sherwoods, like on evilbay right now, ODD ODD for 2 Sherwood sets of ANY model to be for sale at the same time.
Nice cabinets with mediocre componets, private label deal, Jenson guts probably. I have about 15 pieces of different models of Sherwood vacuum tube products and 1 set of Sherwood speakers and just too much other stereo stuff. Gas is so high the 55 sits in the garage and I wander around in a house of hifi stuff all the while looking for more,,,,,,,
I am going to hit the seller up tomorrow but if all he will do is drop them at UPS or some place like it the "packing charges" will most likely put them out of reach. I sent 2 Hammond organ cabinets cross country, they were each bigger than these speakers, it cost less than hundred for 5/8" plywood crates I built, screwed together with padding and braces using sleeping bag pads, used stryofoam etc.
Hopefully I can impose on you if needed. There would be no hurry to get them here, might could be a Christmas present to myself,,,,,,,,,,

The seller does state ... "I CAN TAKE THEN LOCALLY TO A SHIPPER/PACKER FOR YOU. "

If not comfortable with that maneuver how about this one ?

I'd be willing schlep them to your front door but I would need to pick them up on or before Nov. 16th (Friday). I'm migrating South for Thanksgiving and Little Rock is not on the way but I wouldn't mind a detour with either fuel cost covered or Cruiser parts for a schlepping swap.

Whatcha got in Cruiser parts for trade ?

If I'm unable to get them before Thanksgiving break then it would be late November before I could pick them up. Can't miss the "Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot" in Daytona.

Hit me up with swappable stuff ...

Cahil

P.S. I'm an original owner of a pair of ADS L880's if you were wondering ...

880's

Those ADS are nice speakers, you gonna jump on the pair he has for sale?
I am trying to work something out with him, maybe a trade or something as $500 is too steep to hit the Buy It Now and they don't end till after the 16th.
I really don't have any spare Cruiser parts mainly old stereo stuff, need a good receiver? There is a Cruiser restorer not too far away with some parts rigs, need anything in particular? I'd be more than happy to pay for fuel and treat you to a good meal if, against all odds, I can work this out. If you're in a camper an electric hook up is also here waiting.

Now your talking Turkey (my language).

Yeah, hey worst case I can always make a special trip after Thanksgiving. I've got a bunch of parts rigs too and it would be super cool to figure out what I need to build a complete rig. Or maybe vice-versa. Figure out what he needs and I'll sell to him. Buying and selling stuff for me it's a hobby gone bad. Sooner or later it's gonna be full time and sooner hopefully more than later it's gonna be more aligning with Cruisers.

I'm gonna make room in my coffin for those 880's. I might be a little bit squished but I'll be sure those speakers are well padded. Run some wires to the surface and my heir's can crank it up once a year as a birthday present or something. ( Folk's its a JOKE !)

Don't loose those Sherwoods to some other eBayer, them is nice.

Oh yeah,,,,

Tried to trade him out of them in an attempt to get them before the 16th,, offered 3 different things to trade each worth $300 to $400 and me paying shipping to him(a real stretch for the Sherwoods to be worth $250) and he wanted 2 of the trade pieces. May have just been his first pass to see how badly I wanted them but I won't pay $800 for $250 speakers so will have to wait and try to win them in the auction. More to follow.
