Sorry for posting this...
I've read several other posts
The concensus is either CR p.n. 99177 or 99175

I've got a 78 FJ40 with a 4 speed

Thanks in advance
B

Steve - Just checked - it's grooved - do any vendors sell speedi sleeves and do they work, or must I find another drum?
Thanks!

SOR has them....but your local CarQuest or Napa should be able to source you one also....

Chicago Rawhide, or CR number 99177 is the speedi-sleeve you will need....From the tech links.

And pay no attention to the BS in there about a different speedi-sleeve for the 74 and later. All Land Cruiser one-piece transfer cases from 1963 to 1980 use the same output seal, and the same speedi-sleeve on the parking brake drum.

From the tech links.....

Rear output, where the emer brake drum resides:
Seal - NOK AD2651E
73- 3sp Speedi-Sleeve - CR (Chicago Rawhide) 99177
74+ 4sp 4Speedi-Sleeve - CR 99189
Front output flange:
Seal - NOK AH2261J
Speedi-Sleeve - CR 99147

CR 99189 is not for a parking brake drum as this would suggest....

Thread revival...

Thank you @Poser for clarifying this... I will be ordering a cr99177

For the parking brake drum

My truck is a 74' ... But use a 3 speed transfer to my 4 speed ... I couldn't recall if we used my old 4 speed pb assembly or the one from the 3 speed... But... It doesn't matter :meh:

Thanks again!

Not to side track this thread I'll put my response back in this post...
@tlc762

Lol

The drum was replaced before :)

Johnny,
It does matter which parking brake drum was used. Now we will never know if you got 500K+ miles out of the drum before it needed a speedy sleeve. Maybe that salt bath lubes the drum seal as it lowers the curb weight for better fuel economy...
