I talked to Ben @ Slee the other day regarding new toys for my LC.

I decided not to do the ARB bumper right now, but got the stainless sliders and the full OME setup.

I would like to organize what we have said on numerous other threads regarding tire size. All of this information is based on a OME lifted vehicle.

From my understanding, 35's will not fit unless the fender is flared. I've seen a few Arctic Trucks with this mod. Is there a part kit available that does this or is this custom work?

Someone mentioned that 285/65R18 would rub on full turn. You could adjust the stops to compensate for this, but hurt your turning radius. In addition, this is only a 32.52" tire.

The 295/70R18 is way too wide and definitely will have problems. Correct?

What I ordered was the Nitto TG in 275/70R18. According to Ben, this size should not have any problems on full turn, but is the tallest tire to stuff under there at 33.27"

I wanted the tallest tire possible. The narrower width does concern me, but is this anything to worry about?

What are your thoughts?

It's gonna be close. I run snows that are 265 70 18 and the total diameter of those is 32.6. With your 275 70 18 your total diameter will be 33.2. I have absolutely no rubbing or turn-lock issues with the 32.6.

Here, again, is the tire calc tool that shows you the comparo of diameter and width: Tire size calculator

One thing to keep in mind is that the handling with the taller tires, especially the on-road emergency handling, gets a bit more squirrely with the taller tires, IMHO. On that issue, I had to do a full on panic stop for some clown who locked all four brakes on the highway and I experienced the full Toyota emergency assist sensation including the brake booster and the seat belt tensioner. Pretty cool and it all worked well. I had to struggle to unbuckle my seat belt after, however, as it would not release on its own as the passenger side did. Also, there is a fair bit more body roll with the taller tires on road if that matters.

Good luck with the fat treads and let us know!

I have had the OME 2" lift installed. I wanted to go with the Nittos but the 275/70r18 seems too narrow. Some folks have the 295/70r17 installed with a TRD rim. The TRD rim is 8" wide, so a 295 width should also fit on the factory 18"x8" wheel (which I do not want to replace). Make sense so far? However, I am not sure if the TRD has a different offset than the stock rim to accomodate the wider tire. This would blow my theory if it did.

The problem is that the only Nitto in this width and rim size is a 295/70r18 which is 34.41" tall and this seems to me like it would be too tall for the wheel well.

The ideal size on a stock rim seems like it would be a 295/65r18. The only tire that comes in this size is a Goodyear DuraTrac which is a new tire but looks good and does not have raised white letters. This is a 33.1" tire which is 11.8" wide.

I don't see a lot of folks putting Goodyear's on their LCs.

Well they are ordered so we'll see how it looks. The 275 Nitto A/T is 10.94 wide while the stock 285 tire is 11.2 wide -- a difference of 0.26.

Are you really going to notice 1/4" difference? I'd rather have the taller tire, I think. If I don't like them I can always change them out for a different size.

DTT and Chimyz: What are you guys running right now? You've both changed too many times for me to keep track of!

Just put on Nitto TG 285/65-18 on stock 2009 LC with no rubbing issues so far. Quieter than I expected as well.

I asked in another thread which side of town you are on? What dealership did you purchase from? Who did your install work? Where do you wheel?

285 60/R18 is what I have.....

I may put on what AZ997S has on his next time....give me an extra inch or so...

I'll let you know how the 275/70R18 goes.

Live up by Pima Canyon. Got the LC up in Phoenix - no local inventory here in Tucson. Got the Nitto's from Discount up on North Oracle. Wheeling is usually during hunting and fishing adventures here and up north (Montana, Wyoming, etc.) I keep looking for your silver LC!

I got a new hilift, handle-all, recovery bag w/straps, snatch block and shackles as well.

It's how I'm going to wire everything that's going to be interesting. It should look quite "factory" when I'm done. I'll obviously post later once I'm done and can show pics!

Magnetic Grey. Have seen 4 new LC200s in the last 3 days here driving around - (Salsa, white, grey and black). Back from road trip up to Sedona red rock country. Nitto TG's great on the highway up to 80+ mph. Brief excursions onto mild-moderate wheeling roads as well just to "break in" new vehicle - still only 1240 miles. Love this truck!

JB - Did you get the 275/70R18s put on? How does it look? Any rubbing? Any pictures?

I have a set of Dunlop MTs in 275/70/18 on order, should see them in a week. Once I get my hands on them I'll post some pics and comments. I'm throwing them on OEM steel wheels, hope there is no rubbing...the only thing that would be suspect is the front mud flaps.

I have them in my yard. I need to finish the bumper first then the suspension. Then I can get the tires mounted, balanced and aligned.

I'll let you all know asap when I get them on with pics.

What happened to the 17" TRDs???

My concern is hitting the KDSS rubber surrounding, but you guys know more about the wheel well area than me!

Still got em, and will keep them.

My guess, and only a guess...With the OME lift, a 275/70/18 (33.2") tire is about the max you can squeeze into there, without spacing, moving and/or cutting things. I anticipate no rub. This tire is thinner and taller than the current set-up, but not by much.

JB - What's your ETA? A lot of us want to see how it looks and feels before we plunk down our own hard earned cash...:D
