Finally mustered up enough courage to do it. I used fx-r bi-xenon projectors, Philips 85122+ D2S bulbs, and e-46 shrouds. I worked my ass off all day only to find that one of the projectors has a issue with the bi-xenon solenoid and the projectors arent exactly aligned in the reflectors properly. Ohh well gotta go back in there to replace the projector anyway:crybaby: . I really love the output though, very wide and crisp. Anyway here are some crappy low res images that ill replace at a later date.

Now that's a sharp cutoff!

They look great, so hoping they work all-around as good as they look soon.

Thanks!

Well I think their done for now, or as good as I can get it. I've got 20 some odd hours in them.

Some still pretty bad images.

Looks good I am really hoping someone does a thorough writeup on this sometime. Do you have any reccomended reading for this? I have looked at all the threads on here.
thanks

Really its not that difficult, just very time consuming. I looked on forums such as hidplanet. Read the hidplanet university, then look up some how-to's. Basically you open up the lights, dremel out room to fit the projector, align projector, check alignment, do it again 100x, drill holes in the reflector to bolt the projector to reflector, check alignment again, glue on the shroud, then re-assemble the headlamps.

Pretty vague but maybe it will get the point across.

AWESOME!!!

Not that you'll need to with the FX-R's, but what will you do with your high beams? (High-output H1 bulb or leave them empty or just the old-fashioned 55w-ers???)

I was going to go with the OEM quad light set-up and bought some high-powered Philips H1's (110w) to use for the high beam spots.

Now that you've done a pair, you can do it quicker and do it as a side business or something. :hillbilly:

Very nicely done!

For now they aren't plugged up since they seem to do nothing but create more voltage draw but I was debating on using a amber H3 LED bulb in that spot as a DRL. Keep in mind that I have a set of hella 4000s with hids as well:cool:

Thanks!

Yeah, I was aware about the Hella's, but wondered if you did not want to use them on a highway where you might have to turn them on and off relatively quickly, etc...

But from the looks of it, it appears that the FX-R's are up to the challenge for any casual highbeam use!

Congrats!

I'm jealous!!

nice work! are they adjustable with the stock adjusting screws? cutoff is nice... well done. Did you weatherproof?

Yes and yes. I didn't cut any of the headlamp housing, only the reflector so I can still use the cap that the lights came with. We'll see if I get any condensation later on but for now they are solid. However I'm worried about how they will hold up on dirt roads and other hostile environments since I've added quite a bit of extra weight to the reflectors. Have you done any off roading with your retrofit?

Those do look great! Someday I too want to do this (as well as put on my S/C!).

Dude I love your little test light in pic one! I got one just like that with a trailer wiring kit and had it for years, it worked awesome for a cheapo little thing!

no condensation in mine,, I will be adding headlight film on mine to protect the investment

Yeah, I need to so no more chips happen.

here are a few new images

I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Awesome!

Can't wait to do mine.

Still have to do maintenance before I mod my car.

Thanks :)

How did you secure the surrounds to the projectors? I bought the same ones you have and haven't decided the best route to attach them. The way I bolted in the projectors I need to put that on last.

I may just put two small screws through the face of them.

I used high quality silicone to secure them directly onto the projector. A bunch of people on hidplanet have done the same thing with good results and mine seem very sturdy. It took some persuasion to remove them after my test fits.
