How does a cutting brake work when the rear is spooled? I would think that the rear would need to be unlocked to do a front dig ????

He has an Atlas like mine. It has a front dig option in it.

But with a spool, won't the rear wheels still try and spin at the same rate? I mean, with a spool, applying brake to one wheel is like braking on both - no???

You would probably get some wheel hop from the inside tire but all power is cut to the rear end. The only thing i can think of with the spool is the inside tire trying to keep up with the outside tire.

I guess it would drag the outside tire and pivot on the inside rear, if pulling the vehicle with the fronts. I would think an ARB would be elementary on a $80k rig - a dig would surely work better w/ the rear unlocked IMHO.

That is how I understand it.

I guess if you were "Rock Racing" vs. "rock crawling", a spool would be the device of choice for the strength. I doubt an ARB would stand up to KOH, but a spool most likely would. It seems almost silly I would nit pick on a rig of this caliber.
