Don't buy expanded metal mesh. Buy welded wire mesh instead. McMaster-Carr is your friend.
Maybe this comapny has something...this looks similar. They have other designs too..
GKD Metal Fabrics - Product - Luna
Actually reading the stats i guess thats a close up photo
can you explain why?
This stuff looks nice but is designed for architectural finish applications. Plus the luna product only has 1/4" gaps. I work as an Architect and have looked at these products numerous times.... It isnt quite right for the application. Close though....
That 80 belongs to Treeroot. Everything he does is top notch. I'd like to see a daytime photo with a sombrero on it. Your truck is looking better than before IMO. Keep up the good work.
Zackly...I'm sure its not otherwise LJ would have been cussing all his cuts...it looks like blood lath!

Toyota Land Cruiser Billet Grille Insert 99-02 - eBay (item 170605117230 end time Mar-19-11 23:59:02 PDT)
Sorry, not a fan of the chicken wire grill...
Check McMaster for some other alternatives. You can pick your wire diameter and mesh opening size. You can also get perforated steel or aluminum plate.
Look forward to seeing some daytime photos.

Expanded metal is weak and susceptible to damage as well as stretching/bending from minor impacts. Furthermore, when you try to run it in a vertical or horizontal fashion you will seldom get it to look 'right' from most angles, since most automotive parts you're attaching it to are not flat or even surfaces.
The stuff you buy at the local big orange box store is also typically made from cheap low grade metals which don't hold up well.
Why waste time and money on a project that is just going to look like you wasted time and money on it? Get the better product and do it right the first time.
I think it is ready for spackle now.
Welded wire from purveyors like McMaster are available in various mesh sizes - 1, 2, 3, 4 holes per inch etc. As an architect, of course you know there are many sources for items to fit your design intent, and you are not beholden to a single merchandiser or specification.
The purpose of my post was to let others know it wasn't the best product before they spent the money attempting to order it. It isn't cheap...
Sadly, nothing is cheap when it comes to cars/trucks or anything for that matter. I went to a shop to see how much they'd charge to cut out the center of the grille, they said $65...so I decided to just buy a dremel for $60 and have the dremel for future use. I dont see why they would charge $65 dollars for a 15 minute job...
You want the truth or you want a nice story?
