I was pretty set on building some mounts for round lights but having trouble coming up with a system that will be rock solid. And I don't like the idea of obstructing the whole lower opening.. this seems like a great compromise.
I completed this a couple months ago and am very happy with it.. thanks for posting. Figured I'd document some details on what I did with the brackets.
I went with a Rigid 931314 SR-series pro 30" single-row spot/driving combo light.
Personally I preferred not hacking up any part of the headlight mounts, as those things are very expensive if I made a mistake or weakened it in a way that could lead to a crack later. So I modified the brackets to work around what was there.
Up close the grille mods aren't the prettiest but they pass the 10-foot test easily. And I am left with the same amount or more airflow through the grille as stock, when compared to putting smaller lights in the lower bumper slots.
I elected to eliminate the grille camera as I never use the thing anyway. Unplugging the camera makes that portion of the screen solid black when selected, no errors or anything to note.
Light output is simply amazing at night.. as you'd expect from a name brand light it all goes where intended. Mounting seems stable, no shaking or anything going over bumps.
The one thing I need to do is open up the notch in the trans cooler duct just a little because I can't quite get it aimed as low as I want when loaded for a trip.
Packaging required removing the ambient temp sensor from its clip on the hood latch support, so I zip tied it to that support slightly above where it usually rests.
