Hi Cruisers!

Was a member of TLCA and kept meaning to meet up with ya'll at some point but life kept intervening (sound familiar?). Nick (BigFishAllDay) reminded me about you guys and pointed me to the forum. Going to be renewing my TLCA membership and join in on some HDC wheelin' fun.

Currently driving a 2012 FJC with minor mods (tires/suspension/sliders) and used to wheel with a bunch of the ABQ Tacomaworld guys in a 2003 Tacoma that was decked out.

Plan to run into ya'll soon, maybe at Saturday's breakfast.

Getting the TLCA membership is a good thing be we do not require it as a condition of 'membership' to HDC. We dropped that requirement and affiliation about 10 years ago to encourage folks to participate with HDC without feeling obligated to have membership in TLCA.

Also, we've got a FB page if you're active there that I try to cross post activities to get more interest in the club.

Wait... was that you up on North Baldy, Saturday afternoon? good times!

Thanks for reminding me about this place. Need more excuses to get out and enjoy the NM scenery.

Pretty rig!! I dig those wheels a lot!

Tanks! SCS FTW.

I forgot to add, if anyone needs a hand wrenching let me know. I have basic tools and know-how with lots of experience on 1st and 2nd Gen Tacomas and 3rd Gen 4Runners.

Haha. Its kinda funny that "Just up the road" can mean 20 miles on this side of the mountains.

Anytime you want to head deeper into the sticks you are welcome. I dont have visitors very often.

One of these days I'd like to have a range day and get everyone together for some shooting.

Hey Virgil, where's a good place to get metal in ABQ? Looking to make some crossmembers for my roof rack to mount a gas can and hilift to. I've bought from Metalsupermarket before but think they went out of business.

Choice Steel is where I go when I need anything for a job. They only sell by the full 20 foot stick.

Used to be Koenigs was the place to go to get just what you needed, but I havent been there for years. Not sure what they do anymore since the old owner died and his wife took over.

For my projects I can usually use drops from paying jobs. I do buy some from MPI out in Moriarty so I don't have to go to Albuquerque.

I second Koenigs on Zuni. It's a total chill place for odds and ends. The cost/unit would be higher than Choice but you can pick and choose from a plethora of steel of various sizes. Besides, it's not often you see a middle age lady, the store owners, packing a sweet compact .45 on her hip! I oughta ask her out one of these days.....

My last visit there (10 years ago) that same middle-aged lady sat down and programmed the NC plasma to cut the shape I needed, then burned the parts out for me. Total time there was about 30 minutes.

Nick (BigFishAllDay) was telling me about Koenig yesterday. Sounds like I need to check it out. Just need a couple pieces of 2" x 3/4" rectangle tubing, 3'-4' in length. Thanks for the suggestions.

metal supermarkets is still there, just under new ownership. old ones retired. they are good for small pieces. I second Choice for full sticks. Koenig, I haven't been to for years, but loved it when I used to go. prices weren't bad for scrap pieces.

Actually they’re not...apparently the new owners ran it into the ground

Yeah, was about to ask if anyone still had the address just to check in person. Metal Supermarket's website doesn't show the store in ABQ anymore.

Steve, A few of us are riding NFH tomorrow in whatever snow falls if you are interested.

really? dang! oh well. Choice it is for me then.

Ordered some aluminium online. Going light weight. Hopefully just a couple of cuts then drilling some holes. Will post a picture. It'll be so nice to get the hi-lift and gas-can inside the basket instead of worrying about tagging stuff. Yes, I already brought the garage door down once.
