So if you go into my threads, I've been searching for quite some time. Recently checked out this GX, 142k for $9k. I'm positive it was used in saltwater. What are your thoughts, concerns, and opinions?

Looks terrible, hard pass. Why don't you fly into a southern state and drive one back up to NJ? You'll probably save a few grand and get a rust free rig. Just my .02 cents.

If you can get it cheap enough it might be worth it IMO. More photos would help, but the rusty axle/exhaust exhaust doesn't scare me too much. That being said if you can go down south and grab one for 9k that would be best.

That one is too far gone. I would use it as a winter beater but never as a daily that I would put mods or money into... just my 0.02.

keep looking. I suggest looking south of VA. if you find one in the south or out west, reach out to a MUD member to see if they will check it out for you. If you look in the Charlotte area, I will be happy to assist.

Yes I've been trying to find a GX in North Carolina for the longest time! I need that assist you're offering...

On a positive note, you get at least a new left rear brake caliper! lol
You need to assess the frame. If the frame is intact, the rest of the surface stuff can be ground down and POR-15-treated. If you can get it for $7k-$8k tops, go for it. Living in NJ, even a pristine one from down south will start looking like this one after 3-4 winters if you don't stay on top of undercarriage treatment and frequent washes in the winter.
As far as getting a cheaper one from down south, good luck. I've searched for mine nearly 9 months. Seriously, it was like having a baby! Finally found one from GA/AL and jumped on it. But it was not cheap! Cheap is what you see on the photos above. Expect to pay $12-$15k for a rust-free GX with that mileage.

9000 seems high. You also want to make sure and listen carefully to see if it has the infamous “tick” from the front end due to rotted or rusted out exhaust manifold(s) Ask me how I know.

I'm chiming in on this thread, as I looked at several vehicles here in CT and I'm headed down south tonight to (fingers crossed) pick up an GX470 tomorrow

Mine didn't look as bad, but an hour on the lift with a wire wheel and some Corroseal fixes up any issues.
