Wow, interesting truck. If I hadn't already blown my rare cruiser budget for the next few years I'd be tempted to have a go.

I'm not sure I understand the Korean war bit. Was it built for the war then brought to Oz by thiess? Korean war finished in 53, maybe orders carried on into 54. What years were these trucks built? I didn't think it was that early.

Watching to see how much it goes for. :)

Hi mate, did you lay eyes on the one of 4 prototype fj28's yet? I just sent graham (the bloke that advertised it on ebay) an email to see what happened to it. It appears that my 28 is the missing 4th prototype going off the non stamped compliance plate and it comming out of the Aichi plant. Would you happen to have an email address for anyone in japan that I might be able to get some info from?

FJ28 8-FJ28-2106 What to do with it?

Hi,

We have an FJ28. The compliance plate has no numbers stamped on it but the chassis is stamped: 8-FJ28-2106.

My father believes it is older than the Thiess 'oldest' and I am trying to verify whether he's right. He says it was purchased in Goondiwindi. It has had two owners and I remember riding through deep floodwaters as a child as it seemed to be able to go where no other vehicle could. It goes but hasn't been used since the 70s.

Suggestions are welcome. I am not a forum user, so please feel free to move this if I'm in the wrong section.

Hi mate,
Mine is older, the vin is 8- FJ28 - 2105. Where is it located? I am interested in buying it if you want to sell it.

Hi Dave

Looks like they were made one after the other, yours and ours?

It is in western Queensland, and we are working out whether to try to restore it. I have fond memories of it so am not keen to sell it at the moment, sorry. We've had a panel beater offer to paint it but I'm thinking maybe we should speak to a restoration expert first. I wouldn't want to get it all shiny and new and find that's the opposite of adding value. My father said it has not had any modifications/major repairs done.

Thanks Robin, can I have 1st dibbs if you are selling it? The body from the dash back was made in Aus and mine had a 1960's fj43 mid wheel base body grafted to it. Have you got a side on shot showing the full body so I can use it to copy a new body for mine? Mine is back to factory from the dash forward only. Does yours have the plate welded to the chassis under the front seats?

I think this may have been imported to Australia with the body to the B pillar. The ribs on the floor, tool box under the passenger's and running boards all look correct for Japanese made 20 series. The stock rocker panel (not sure if that is the term used in Australia, the body part under the door) looks to have a line where it was grafted together. The hinges for the door are in the soft top location. The rocker panel on those would have been as high as the tool box. This one is lower like the hard top model. Guessing the body they made used a larger easy to get into the vehicle size door. THe frame on the driver's seat also looks like a stock 20 series seat.

PRETTY CONFIDENT I USED TO OWN THE VERY FIRST ONE. (Would love to discuss, would love to track down my old FJ 28)
Hello there.
My name is Wally, I've been busy trying to trace my old land cruiser and that caused me to find this site and your email address.
As I believe that I used to own 'the very first' land cruiser imported into Australia, I could probably answer any question you would like to know.
Further to this, I would love to enter into communication.
Originally lived in Oakleigh 3148 and now I live in Mulgrave 3170 (Melbourne suburbs)

Would love to hear from you.
Wally.

Hello guys. I know it's not an FJ 25 but I don't see FJ 28 1234 listed anywhere. I would love to know where this one is. Wally.
